shower water pressure

Our water pressure in the fifth wheel sucks whether we are hooked up to fresh water or with the pump. How do you guys fulltime in these things when your shower is just more then a trickle coming out? (ok more then that but not much water).

I even have to swish my hand in the sink to make suds.

We switched shower head to an Oxygenator (Sp?) and also found that a 5/8in. hose instead of 1/2in. supplying the trailer made a big difference. In most cases it is not pressure, but volume that is the culprit.

But you should get decent pressure using the pump, we do, so maybe something is kinked or blocked in the plumbing.

As far as outside water hookup ,5/8 hose like Hank said and also if your using a cheap water pressure regulator chuck it and buy a good one.

I use the Valterra one like this and get great ,safe pressure, showers are fine.

Our last trailer had bad pressure in the shower the new is better so far. We do not use a regulator. The water filter takes away some pressure on us.

We have the same story on our new 338db. I don't think pressure is what it should be. I've stopped using the inline filter but there doesn't seem to be a difference with flow. I do the same hand bubbles in the sink. Looking for suggestions. I am using some quick connections that might be restricting flow. That's next on my list.

I have experienced the same issue in my 2013 Sydney fiver, but has experienced low volume/pressure in all faucets on city water, including my shower (I have an Oxygentics head). One thing I did was remove and clean aerators on the sink faucets. They all had plastic shaving debris in them from the factory. Some improvement but still not great. I do know that on my last 2010 fiver, the shower faucet (not shower head) was equipped with a flow reducer (small hole) built into the faucet. I used a small drill bit and enlarged it a tiny bit and it made improved flow to shower head. I am thinking of doing the same in my shower faucet in new rig. The important thing is to make sure there isn't a restriction or kink in the main line coming in from the outside city water connection point (between there and the water pump T.

You can get them on Amazon here, or I think Camping World as well.

I really like mine, pressure in my present campground is way up there and this one tames it nicely. I left my last one in Palm Springs ;( replaced it with the same model, like that it can adjust, its brass, and has the readout. Gives nice flow that the cheap ones don't, I tried one that said it was set for 50 psi and the toilet would never work right even on 80-100 psi taps.

I just went out back and fixed the shower flow issue. I removed the shower hose from the faucet. On the base of the white plastic threaded fitting on the faucet, there is a small water restricting hole. I drilled mine out and enlarged it about 2 drill bit sizes larger. No more flow problem. Sure I will use a bit more water but I usually camp at sites with water/sewer. DW will now be happy. FYI - don't let drill bit pierce into the faucet if you decide to do this or the bit will penatrate the faucet housing. I ruined a perfectly good faucet on my last rig that way. Just use tip of drill bit to gingerly open up the hole.

azlee56, Howdy;

My OME Showerhead is rated for 2.5 gpm (gal. per minute).
The water here in South Central N.M. is HARD
so I soak the showerhead and the other tap aerators in jar of CLR about
every 2 months. It hasn't hurt any of the internals (it comes in a plastic jug),
and I don't have any problems, unless the owner is watering (irrigating), his
greenery..... Private well with it's own pressure tank and 3 high volume pumps.
Pressure is set for 55psi. for the park.

Here is m2c. I picked up a whole house water pressure regulator and Lowes 3/4" dia, a 3/4" hose and plumbed in a 10" tall water filler with 3/4" pvc and totally increased my volume what a difference. Bottom line is incresed volume keeped pressure at 50(ish) pounds. Pic in my profile.

I understand the outside hose diameter but it is immediately restricted by inside 1/2 lines. Or is there just a kink at the input. Hmmm.

You're right but the reason for the larger hose is to supply volume. In your stick home you most likely have 1" feed from the street then 3/4" distribution and down to 1/2 to each fixture and finally 3/8" connectors at the fixture. The larger the volume you start with and maintain will determine the pressure drop over distance. The tubing used in new trailers is not as "kinky" as older ones but the fittings used and the check-valve at the city inlet are still very restrictive.
After getting long-winded ... If the shower acts the same with pump or city and other faucets are good, the problem is in the shower valve or the head itself. JM2˘ or maybe 3˘ this time, Hank

Nice job on the water filter Terry. Here in Victoria, BC we have soft soft rain water but I would like to get something setup for this falls trip back to the desert. How often do you need a new filter and what to they sell for?

Thanks Ray

shower water pressure

Own 2013 327 RES Cougar. Reading a lot about shower pressure fixes and regulator issues. Does anyone know what the allowed factory water PSI is? Not sure if my regulator is hurting my water flow. I don't remember rating as I bought it some time ago.
