Chlorine Taste in Fresh Water System

HI, This is an unrelated topic, but I need to ask this question. Has anyone ever had issues with their drinking water tasting like bleach once you start the new camping season??? My hubby sanitizes the tank in the spring, & then flushes it, but I always seem to taste bleach in our water.. He thinks it is just in my head, but I wondered if anyone else had the same issues & what would be a solution to this?? I would appreciate any & all answers...

Sanitize the FWT, then flush once to get rid of the bleach, then flush again to get rid of the smell then flush a third time to get rid of the taste. Don't forget that if you're really "sanitizing and flushing" the FW system, you're including the hot water heater. There is 6 gallons (in some models even more) of bleach containing water in that tank, so flushing has to include draining (or emptying) the bleach contained water from that tank or you will taste chlorine from that source until it's finally diluted enough to not notice.

We find that about a quarter cup of baking soda added to the second or third flush helps rid the chlorine and the plastic taste from the FW system.

X2 on the baking soda. Also you have to consider the chlorine content in the water being supplied from the CG. If you have well water at home or your water is treated less you may not be used to it and more likely to smell it. JM2¢, Hank
