Thoughts on SuperSprings?

I am looking into getting SuperSprings to install on my truck to help eliminate some of the rear end sag that occurs when pulling my TT. I currently have the Equalizer hitch set-up and my truck tows the TT without any problems. I just want to raise the rear-end some. Anyone out there have any thoughts and/or opinions about SuperSprings? Thanks!

We had a 2004 GMC 1/2 ton that we used to tow with and used the Equ-a-lizer hitch and the back end would sag just a little more then what I liked. I added the Monroe Sensa-Trac Load Adjusting shocks and I loved them. They leveled out the ride and didn't make the ride any harder when not towing. I would put them on my 3/4 ton but they don't make them for the heavier trucks.

I'd suggest Firestone air bags instead. Then you get lift when you want without the stiffer spring.

Thanks for the replies so far! I've looked into the air bags, but I am not interested in them. From what I've read and heard, the SuperSprings do not affect the unloaded ride.

My only experience is with Timbrens. The replace your rear rubber bump stops. Check them out too

i use timbrens and like them, but some people don't. They prevent the "sag" but only work as truck is loaded with some weight. I think air springs probably better being that they are adjustable for how the truck is feeling and what weight is involved, but the timbrens cost less than 150 if my memory near correct. so they are cheap alternative. they do stiffen up the ride a little.

I put them on my F250 and towed a 25 ft Outback 25RS and a 30 ft Sprinter 300KBS and was totally pleased with the reduced sag. Now I tow 38 ft 5th wheel Avalance 330RE and still pleased with my Super Springs.

IMHO a properly set up Equalizer hitch will eliminate all sag. Since it works on my soft sprung Expedition, I can't believe it will not work on your truck. Try running thru all the adjustments again.

Terry, thank you for your input on the SuperSprings. That is good to know!

TV Sagging

Chuck&Gail,I totally agree with you.
These people are not loading up their eq. bars properly,or they are undersized for the hitch weight. Don't Know if safety is compromised, but towability will improve with proper bar loading.

The Equalizer is designed to distribute some weight from the TV's rear axle to the TV's front axle to help eliminate the TV's front end from rising; thus providing greater stability and control of the TV.

From Equalizer's Instruction Manual:
"Weight distribution is the ability of a hitch to transfer some of the tongue
weight of the trailer from the rear axle of the tow vehicle to the front axle of
the tow vehicle

Good adjustment:
You have most likely achieved good weight distribution adjustment if your
measurements show the following with the trailer coupled and the weight
distribution engaged:

1. From the coupled without weight distribution measurement, the front
wheel well measurement is at least halfway back to the original uncoupled
measurement.

2. The rear wheel well measurement is somewhere between the uncoupled
height, and the coupled with no weight distribution height. It should
NEVER be higher than the uncoupled height."

My set up falls within these measurements and my front end only rises 1/2 inch with my TT hooked to my TV. I have been through the set up process several times and this is the best set up I have been able to come up with. It is set up correctly per the manual.

My TV/TT combo handles well when driving. However, my TV (08 Dodge Ram) is notorious for it's sagging and soft rear suspensions. I am just trying to eliminate the minimal sagging I am experiencing in the rear end of my TV for cosmetic purposes.

Thank you for all of your input! I look forward to more input on SuperSprings.

I too have a 2011 Ram 1500 and feel that the rear coils feel soft. I was considering air bags just to firm up the feel while towing.

At least you have the coil springs! I have the lousy leaf springs!

I thought about air bags, but I don't want to deal with the hassle of adding and emptying the bags. I just want to install something to help with the factory suspension.

I plan on installing supersprings in my 05 F150 crew 4x4. I realize my trailer is pretty much at the comfort limit of my truck. approx. 800lbs tongue weight and 7500lbs overall. The truck just sags a mile even when I crank up the wd hitch. I've changed too many airbags on customer trucks under warranty to ever consider them for my own truck, plus I've seen broken frames caused by overloading with airbags. The supersprings don't affect unloaded ride or ride height, so that's my choice.
