2012 Outback 230RS Slide issue
Hi all, we just bought a 2012 Outback 230RS, every thing worked great when we picked it up, but after we got it home I cannot get the rear bed slide to go out. Everything else is working fine, awning, microwave, ect but nothing happens when I push the "Glide Room" button. The slide was out when we toured and bought it and the previous owner put it back in (obviously) before we left so I am wondering if i am just missing something as a newb...
The main power switch is on, the battery is fully charged, the RV is plugged in, I have unplugged it and left it unplugged for 15 minutes then plugged it back in. I have tried it while it was unplugged, while it was plugged in...
I think I might just be missing something obvious...

Welcome to the forum
When you press the glide room button “retract” does the room react at all? Everything else 12V works?

Hi Chuck, everything else works fine. When I push the button nothing at all happens, no movement, silence…

I am assuming by your previous post that you actually saw him retract the slide while there?

We recently had another thread where the person had issues with that rear bed slide. Maybe hunting for it will shed some light on things. I am pretty sure that the slide mechanism will be different than most but if NOTHING happens, I would start checking electrical. Fuses, breakers, connections (for voltage) etc.

Follow the power cable from the battery and you should find some in line fuses up on the front, maybe inside one of the frame members or even on a cross member. Here's a link to a Rockwood but it will give you an idea;

If the slide is a "through the frame electric slide, there is a "brass bell" on the drive ram. i is call the "stop can" and its purpose is to shut down the slide so it doesn't crush the trailer wall when it reaches full "INWARD" travel. That bell, if it is adjusted slightly too tight, will do exactly what you're experiencing. Crawl under the trailer, look for the two rams that connect to the outside wall of the slide. On one of them, you'll find that "brass bell" snugged up on the trailer frame rail. There are two nuts holding the bell in position, loosen the nuts and unscrew (move the bell away from the frame rail) about 2 turns and try the switch again.
If it's the "inward bell stop adjustment" being too tight, loosening that bell will get the slide working again. Make sure you return the bell to the original position (count the revolutions as you loosen) and then just loosen it 1/2 turn and retighten the locking nuts.
Now, that said, if your slide is not a "through frame RAM slide" then the above isn't a part of your slide mechanism.
Here's a drawing of the through frame slide with the stop can shown.
