Smile Hi all

Found some super helpful info on this site that helped to get my temperature reading back functional on my "in command" center.
I'm now joining the forum to share and learn.
we just purchased a 2021 Cougar 25RES 5th wheel and took it out for it's first trip.
We have an older 1992 Lance 24foot 5th wheel that is now residing in our barn until sale occurs.
I'm towing with our 2007 silverado half ton, I installed Firestone air bag suspension support on the truck for towing the Cougar since it is heavier than the Lance and it works great, just grab the bike tire pump and it takes about 2 minutes to fill the bags to the needed PSI
Have corrected a few minor problems on the Cougar and have one more I will search out answers to.

nice to meet everyone.

Hello and welcome!
Not to be the bearer of bad news, but i think you will find that most won't approve of the half ton pulling a 5th wheel, and technically they'd probably be right. Check the payload on your truck door sticker and then add up all the weight/cargo in the truck and do the math. Meaning people, dogs, cargo, fuel, pin weight etc. I bet you're easily over 2k and payload for that truck is probably less.
Welcome!

Another person taken in by the label "Half Ton Series". There are practically NO 1/2 ton trucks on the planet capable of safely towing a 10K gross weight 5th wheel. Loaded (hence the gross weight used), the pin weight will be about 23 percent of the gross or 2300 lbs. Add hitch and passengers and other things in your 2007 1/2 ton and you will have about 3000 lbs being carried by your truck. Your payload sticker is in the driver's door frame as has been noted and you are very likely double the payload your truck was designed for. Time to start truck shopping? Welcome to the forum and sorry you are in this situation.

Just FYI!
The airbags did nothing but allow you to level the truck, they did not add anything to the load carrying capacity, but rather the weight of them only further used up your available payload.
Yes your 1/2 ton truck can easily "tow/pull" that 5er all day long, but it can not safely "carry" the load placed onto it & stay within the posted limits of that truck.
Not trying to rain on your parade, but as George stated you aren't the only one to fall victim the "1/2 ton towable" sales gimmick by rv manufacturers or the "max trailer tow weights" propaganda by truck manufacturers.
Check the yellow/white tag on your drivers door jamb that states "occupants and cargo must not exceed XXXXlbs" that's the payload for THAT truck. From that number subtract 23% of the GVWR posted on the driverside front corner of that rv for pin weight + 100lbs+ for the hitch + everyone/everything in/on that truck, this will let you know where you stand as far as weights.
As for your InCommand issues I can't help, never had it & if I were to buy again tomorrow wouldn't have it.
Good luck & safe travels!
