Lower table to travel?

2021 cougar 39rls 5th
How many of you lower your table to travel?
It is nice snd firm/solid now of course, but eventually will it start to be loose and a bit sloppy when sitting at it?
Would apply to any model with “cafe” seating (for lack of better description”

Unknown what table and how its supported or maybe mounted.
Current has a free standing table, it gets folded down or else it slides across floor.
Last RV had the table mounted to wall with hinges and a single point support to floor. It sat it place well during travel.

Free standing on two metal supports. I am just assuming it can be lifted off supports, the supports removed from floor receptacle and table latex on edge of seats to make into bed, as there is two lips for it to sit on and cushions spread out for bed.
Old 07 cougar was that way, but table became kinda sloppy when sitting/leaning on it as we sometimes do(elbows off the table!)!

We had 2 different travel trailers with the metal pedestal posts. We left ours up when traveling, and over time they got more and more "wigglie" when we actually ate at them. None of the screws on the floor ever loosened up with all the wiggling the table experienced. I think the metal shaft of the posts themselves rubbing against the metal support attached to the floor simply wore them down so they didn't fit snug any more.

My advise, if you really don't mind doing so, is to travel with table down.

The last 2 trailers we have had stand alone chairs and a table, no dinette booths. We like the table much, much better over the booths. But then, we didn't need the booth dinette for a sleeping bed either.

Interesting question since we want to replace it with one about 6 inches lower. We are 5’11 and 5’7” so not real short but it is too tall for comfort. Thought about cutting it down but will be cheaper to replace it. Will keep it for when we trade. But no, we don’t and wouldn’t lower it for travel.

Ok, that style, I have had 2 at least. I left them up during travel.

Never had that style in a camper but owned several boats that did. On one boat the table was loose at the socket in the floor. I wound a layer of clear tape around it which lasted a short time. Then I replaced the aluminum tube pedestal and that fixed the issue. Never took the table down and they had been thru dome "rough travels" on the chopy Chesapeake Bay.

Years ago, I made new larger bases for ours and welded the posts into them. I worked in a metal shop so it was easy for me. One thing I recently did after putting it off for years was to stuff a pool noodle down each of the tubes. No more “ting ting” every time they get bumped. Just one of my pet peeves cured. The wife claimed she never noticed it.

We had 2 previous travel trailers with the pedestal type table. We always lowered the table when traveling.

I'll tag on as well. The member who "revived this thread" posted SPAM with a link to some site in Germany. That member, his post on this thread and the SPAM he posted to another thread are all "history for now". It was the 3rd attempt to SPAM the forum from the same IP.

We always lower ours and use it as travel storage (lightweight things that won't shift while driving)

Some people have mounted bike racks to the underside of their table. They lower the table, turn it over and store their bikes there during transit.

There's as many "uses for the table and ways to store it" as there are owners with a table they can move about.....
