Newbie having fresh water overflow problems

Hi, I just bought a new Arcadia 3660 RL and am having issues with the city water water filling the fresh water tank. I found this out when I noticed water pouring out of the overflow this morning. I’m used to older campers without all of these settings so I’m wondering if I simply have a switch turned the wrong way, unfortunately the user manual is no help in figuring that out so any assistance folks could offer is appreciated.

It is leaking through the pump which is supposed to have a check valve. You might also have a pump that cycles on and off without the water running when not hooked up to city water (another symptom of leaking backwards through the pump). The pump probably has plastic bits from drilling holes into the tank. You can try flushing the tank and put water in the tank to flush the pump. To do that turn on all the faucets and the pump to run it full-bore. If that does not work you will need to replace the pump or disassemble it to clear out the bits.

Hard to see the labels on my phone, but it appears you have the top left valve set to fill

The top left pointer is aimed toward NORMAL FLOW, so that is in the proper position. Most likely it's the check valve in the pump. It would also be nice if they installed a screen on the pump inlet side.

If you can access the pump, I would install an inline screen filter on the suction side before you try to flush it. I had a similar issue and just when I thought I had it cleared, it would do it again. I installed the quick connect filter and even after 3 seasons I am still catching bits of plastic, but the pump has worked flawlessly and the tank has never overflowed since..

Thanks for the advice folks, I’ve literally only had the camper a few weeks and am having some other minor issues so hopefully I can get it all sorted.

Some images so you will better understand what’s going on..diagram of typical RV water system

Pics of typical Shurflo water pump, internal check valve and repair kit for valve..

Try cycling the water faucets off and on several times while having the system set to use pump instead of city water.

If the valve is stuck open by junk inside this may clear the valve.

If it doesn’t then you can turn city water off and remove the 3 screws and inspect and clean the rubber check valve.

This should clear up the issue

I’d also install a check valve on the outflow side of the pump and then you will never have backflow issues
