Hi everyone. Long time camper, short time TT owner. I've camped in tents my entire life. The wife and i purchased a 1993 Skamper PUP for $500 in 2019 to see if the kids would actually enjoy camping as much as they assured us they would. We are an "outside" family, so we figured it would be a successful investment. Used it probably 5-6 times in less than a year. We totally remodeled the PUP, sold it for a nice profit, and then in early 2020 purchased our 2017 Keystone Springdale 2600TB (Summerland), which is 28'. I never realized how nice a shower (even a small one) and a throne were, until our TT.
My tow vehicle is a 2016 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7L. Previously we used my wife's Dodge Journey to pull the PUP. Although gas mileage is horrible when towing, my truck has no problem with our TT. If we upgrade the TT, however, i'll likely have to upgrade the tow vehicle as well.
Since March 2020, we've used our TT about 10 times now, including taking a break during the Winter. We've had no trouble with our camper. Light enough for my truck to easily pull, and short enough to fit into any spot.
I'm a fixer and tinkerer. Looking forward to learning more from the experienced folks on the forum. This past weekend kicked off our 2021 camping season. Our long trip (8-hrs 1-way to Jekyll Island) is being planned now, and can't wait to get back into the woods.
