This thread is another example of why I really like this forum. Never worried about monitoring my tanks, just checked them periodically based on usage (SOP) and never had an issue. Now I hear of Mopeka (which I hadn't because I wasn't concerned) and it sounds pretty nifty. Guess technological advances keep happening (suppose these have been around 20 years and I just checked ). Now, as I told DW, I think I've got to have these so I don't keep running out in cold weather to pull the cowl down to check the tanks. Hopefully they work as I hope they will.

NO,NO,NO! You tell her you need to get that so SHE will never have to wake up cold! It's strictly for HER comfort and protection.

It does not weigh the tank. I believe it's an ultrasonic measurement if I remember correctly. The sensor/transmitter attaches to the bottom of the tank with a magnet. The tank "standoffs" is just to raise the tank enough for the sensor to clear the surface the tank is setting on.

Went to order the Mopeka tank monitors from CW this morning and found another, maybe, product that looks the same from AP Products on Amazon and $20 cheaper. Does anyone have any experience with the AP stuff? Are they the same (they appear to be)?

If you look on approducts.net they sell Mopeka brand. I think they just "rebrand" them with their name.

I contacted Mopeka to determine if Amazon.CA had the latest generation sensors and monitor. Their response:

"If it is AP products I would assume that it is the latest versions of our products. AP is our North American distributor so they should carry only the latest models."

Thanks for the responses. I tried to contact Mopeka but they didn't answer their phone or return a call from my message; probably should have emailed them. I went ahead and ordered the AP product from Amazon. Looks like the same product with maybe the "TM" designation removed on the logo.

After getting the above response from Mopeka, I emailed AP Products and received the following response:

"We do not provide any products directly to Amazon. We have no way of knowing which generation of the system Amazon has as we do not supply them directly. The 024-1000 is a our Dual Sensor kit with Monitor. To guarantee the latest generation, you can purchase directly through: https://mopeka.com/shop/"

The one I ordered from Amazon is the AP 024-1000 dual sensor kit with monitor so guess we'll see. Thanks.

Just a followup on the above question I had.

Received the monitor system today and the AP product ordered is in fact the Mopeka. It also came with the aluminum legs vs the rubber ones that seemed to be a problem.

For those using these Mopeka systems like myself, you may wish to look at this which I located on Amazon and came in an AP box though its labeled Mopeka:

Mopeka 024-3000 Tank Check Bluetooth Gateway/WiFi Bridge

This device works with the bluetooth tank sensors to link the status via WiFi to a cloud account so you can monitor your tanks status from anywhere. Setup was very easy and as my memory starts to become more and more questionable, I find myself wanting to check but not being near the RV at the time.

Just as a sidenote; my first Mopeka tank monitors were so inaccurate that they were useless. Contacted them and they sent a 2nd set (monitor/sensors) free of charge. Installed them and they were useless as well. I now have yet a 3rd set sitting at home unused....caused more trouble than they were worth.

Something to be aware of: when I installed the propane sensors, a propane tank mounting bolt was hitting the sensor and providing random readings. I relocated the mounting bolt, and the sensors are now reading accurately and consistently.
