How converter

I've had my new Laredo 29BHS for a week now. From several days of opening the slide, using electric stabilizers and such I have diminished the battery. How exactly does the converter work. I plugged in the 30amp cord to my parents house, 15amp. Does the converter have a circuit breaker or does it do it's work automatically. When I turned on the main I was able to confirm it was receiving power(I flipped the microwave switch and it turned on). I left the main on but all other circuits I left off. Just wasn't sure if the converter always makes noise or only when the fan kicks on occasionally. Also how long should it take or the battery to charge. I know that can vary depending on usage. I will not be using while charging today.

One of the breakers feeds the converter. Mine is marked REC/CON. There is no need to turn off all the breakers if the appliances are all turned off there is no draw. Be sure water heater is off if there is no water in it. You are not charging if all breakers are off. .... Hank

If you turned all the breakers off then you probably shut down power to the converter as well. The breakers should be labled and one of them should control power to the converter. The fan on the converter will come on when it needs to, the more load the faster the fan runs. At least this is the way mine works.

Thanks for the quick response. What I noticed is that there were 7 labels
1 Main
2 A/C
3 Ref
4 GFCI
5 Hot Water
6 Furnace
7 Converter
But there is only 6 breakers. I guess the converter must be doubled up with one of them. How will I be able to locate. I'm very new to camping and electrical things. Will having the converter off but shoreline plugged in damage anything. Also how did I get power to micro if the converter was not on.

Disconnect your battery and isolate that wire so it does touch anything metal. Turn your overhead lights on. If your converter is on and working then the lights will work.

Having the shore power plugged in and the converter off will not hurt anything.

Remember... the converter only supplies 12V. It takes 120VAC and changes it to 12VDC for powering lights, pump, furnace and charges the battery among other things. This is why the 120V stuff like your micro will work even if the conveter breaker is off.

This thread might answer my question, but just to clarify ...

When plugged into shore power (or power at the house), is it true that I need to have the "Main" and the "Rec/Con" breakers switched ON in order to charge the batteries?

Yes you do. It's also not necessary to turn the breakers off.

This thread is 7 years old, you may want to post your question as a new thread.

YES!!!! Breakers on = charge .. breakers off = no charge. Also, there really is no reason to turn all the breakers off with the exception of the water heater when it will be empty.

Chip types faster then I do.
