cable tv 2009 montana

Hi all, Trying to get cable tv working. Antenna 'over air' works fine once I program channels, but with cable hooked from post to trailer and try to program channels ;nothing 0 channels found, could that small jumper cable behind tv lift in rear cabinet be for cable and if so where do you hook it up.

Thanks Randy

You have to change the setting in tv's menu from "air" to "cable" and you have to turn off the signal booster in your camper. It's a tiny black button near your cable jack behind the tv.

That's all you should have to do. The jumper cable you refer to is a way to bypass the booster if you are using satellite. The signal feed comes out they the jumper and back in to the booster. Perhaps it's a problem at the post? Have you ever used cable in the camper before this?

You mentioned the bedroom. Some RVs do not have the cable TV run to the bedrooms. Do you have cable channels on the living room TV? I've seen many RVs modified by original owners because of this.

On the outside do you have just one connection, some trailers have a cable and satellite hook up, be sure you are connected to cable. If still nothing run the cable from the post directly to the tv, if nothing then the cable is dead at the post. If you get channels then something is not connected within the trailer. Good luck.

cable

I will try running from the post direct to the tv to-day, yesterday was a wash as I had brake problems on the truck as well. I did suspect a bad wire also. The one other time I was hooked to cable I thought I moved that small jumper behind living room tv (I should write this stuff down) as that was last year. Thanks for the help everyone

IIRC the jumper is for a satellite receiver. one connection is IN to the receiver and the other is OUT to the TV.

We are in a new Raptor, have the new cable run from the box in the park to the cable connection in the basement. We do NOT have it hooked to "satellite prep." We have pushed the little black button in the bedroom and the green light has gone off. We still cannot get it to load any channels. Anybody have any ideas we can try? We always have good luck with the local channels using the antennas.

Some cable companies have recently gone to a digital translator box requirement for each TV. Some campgrounds have been forced into this situation and have cable boxes either for rent or free for campers. Check with the campground host to see if you might need a "converter box" to receive cable service,,,

Still no luck. We watched the weird channels for awhile and that was all I could stand of that drivel. The park cable does not require boxes , and the tv is only one year old. I am at a loss.

When you turn the TV on and set it to "Cable Analog" did you then run a channel scan to set up the system?

I am going to tell out on myself. The cable connector I chose on the post of the RV park was NOT the connector that had the cable attached. I went out this AM, noticed in my infinite wisdom that I had the wrong connection point. I have switched connection points and the channels are loading as we speak. Many thanks for all everybody's help. I did learn from this that the signal booster had to be turned off.

At least you figured it out. Sometimes it's the simple things that can cause big frustration.

Thanks for the info shared here. We didn't have cable TV in the master bedroom, turns out we were using the wrong port on the outside of the camper.
