CONV/GEN question

Hello, I own a 2012 19FLBWE Keystone Hideout. I'm pretty knowledgeable on most stuff, but I'll admit that electrical systems confuse me. In my electrical panel on the trailer, there is a circuit breaker for CONV/GEN. Can someone describe how this circuit breaker should be used? Does CONV stand for converter? I purchased a surge protector for the trailer and when I plug the trailer into my house, the surge protector will trip whenever I put it on CONV. I don't understand why that is happening. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

By surge protector do you mean a plug strip with 10 amp circuit breaker built in??? If so it just means that the converter is drawing more than 10 amps. Most inexpensive surge protectors do not trip they just send overvoltage to ground and usually only good for one shot. Your battery will not charge if CON breaker is off and any 12v you are using will drain the battery. JM2¢, Hank

Thanks Hankpage. The surge protector is a 30 amp surge protector that is made by Surge Guard. It trips when I try to plug my RV into the house and it also tripped when were camping at a State Park a couple of weeks back. I tried to reset the surge protector and it just kept trippping. I ended up just plugging the RV directly into the 30 amp outlet that we had at the campground. Thanks for the information on the CONV. That really helps.
