Hub Componet help.

Cleaned and repacked my bearings prior to an upcoming trip. I was surprised to see that there are no identifying #'s on any of the parts. I sure like to have a spare set of bearings and grease seal. The book that came with my trailer (2007 Springdale 298) is not very clear as they show a couple of options. The drum is 12", 6 studs. Tag on the axels show them to be 4,400 LB max. Model 252 2. There is Dexter #'s and Al-Ko #'s. They make no sense to me. I know it can't be too difficult. My old triler was easy. I pulled the bearings and there was a model # on them.

Thanks in advance......

Ron

Did you check the Race?

Sounds like a standard wheel bearing to me. If you measure the axle shaft diameter and the hub diameter you can verify what bearing is needed, but most light axles like that take the same "boat trailer" wheel bearings.

Look on the axle tube. There should be a number stamped into the metal and if you are lucky, there may also be a label with the manufacturer's name. If it is Dexter, call them and they will tell you everything you ever wanted to know that came on that axle, including brakes. You may also get the same info if they are Al-Ko from them. I serviced ours this past winter, went to Redneck Trailer Supply, and they had a kit that has an inner bearing, an outer bearing, races for both, a seal and a cotter pin, just to have on hand as we travel in case we have a failure.
