Where is your generator when parked overnight

I brought 2 honda generators eu2000 and the companion. Where do you keep your generator when parked for the night at a Walmart, roadside rest area, etc.....

Do you keep them in back of the truck and run an extension cord? (My electric hookup is on the back of the fifth wheel).

Thanks
Mark

I keep mine in the back of the truck, chained and locked and run the cord under the 5th wheel to the back.

Mine is by the camper when in use and then moved to the back of the truck under a locked trifold and gate.

I just carry it to the back and chain it to the bumper. Plug it in and I'm good to go...

I welded a eye bolt to the bottom of the bumper and use a thick cable with master look. I loop cable through the handle of genny and look it to the eye bolt. The cable is 6' so when running the fumes are not that close to the camper.

It's even quieter when I run it this way, sitting on a rubber mat.

we got two bike cable locks and hooked them together and lock them to the stabilizers or the bumper of the truck, depending on what is sitting where.

Ok, I just read it a bit closer. So you want it running, I presume.

I'm just paranoid about leaving it out where someone with big bolt cutters can grab it and run. Wasn't there a thread a while back where someone found an alarm to attach to their generator? I can't find it in Search.

In my case I now have eu6500is that sits in front of hitch. Since it weighs ~300lbs and it can't be removed when 5er is hitched to truck I don't have to worry about it.

I used to cable lock the yamaha to the TT frame. When overnighting in wmt/reststop I was never far enough away for someone one to pull a snatch and grab, but anyone that knows the cost would be temped for sure so lock her up for sure.

Yes, running.

I had a car stolen in in the mid 80's, another around 1995 and a dually last year. Really sick of it. I'm just wanting some idea's to make it a little tougher for thieves Did I mention......... I hate a thief !!!!

Thanks for the responses !!

I chain mine to the rear bumper. I have - while traveling put the honda 3000 in the bed of the pick up. and made a #12 cord to plug into. But I do not like the gen exhaust under my bed while sleeping.

Found this on a diff site and also I seen one last year.
Looked easy to make and to use.

Bolt to a 3/8th steel plate using bolts from the bottom of the plate into four holes on the bottom of the Honda. Terminated inside it's case/frame. Use a plate big enough so it sticks out from the side of the Honda wide enough so you can park one tire of your RV or towing vehicle on this part of the plate. Park on the plate and then use the generator any time you want - while you're at the campsite or away from it.

Honda makes a theft proof steel adapter to mount on the plastic handle so they can't be cut thru. i just put one on mine and it is great.

A hacksaw will cut the plastic handle in seconds & the metal insert will only make more noise, and slow them down a little. A steel plate attached on the bottom in place of the feet - and attached to something to big to steal would seem to be a better idea.

Honda handle

I welded up theft-proof.. or maybe I should say resistant handle protection for mine. Should slow them down.
I made a rear carrier for my 5th wheel to carry the generator and bicycles, the generator is back there. It is near the electrical plug and away from the bedroom, which is better for CO reasons.

Howdy All;

I have my trusty traveling companion Rascal, he likes to
"Watch and Protect", part of his nature as a Border Collie.
I think that leaving the generator within his reach is a good
deterrent... he doesn't listen to anyone but me and a few friends...
