Unhappy Electrical issues

Took trailer out of storage, replaced battery backwards, and blew 40 amp fuse. Plugged into house with adapter. TV light on, so seemed like outlets fine. Microwave had time, radio had no lights. Tried to turn on Atwood fridge . Panel lit up all light: red check lite, and mode temp ca gas all lit. No blinking. So manual days replace blown fuse. We did when we finally tracked one down. Trailer now parked, not near house electrical . Now microwave no lights, fridge still as above. Radio still off. Tried fridge with just propane. No go. So we have lights and electric hot water. Any ideas? Checked all fuses in panel. Reset circuit breakers. Besides trip to service , any other ideas.

Thx in advance

Easy mistake to make - Black to negative ...... I did the same this year as my first year opening a trailer ever. My problem ended with the replacing of those 40amp fuses (I have 2 of them). Mine were buried WAY back behind the fuse panel in my converter that is NOT attached to the panel - you are sure you replaced the converter fuse/fuses?

If the water heater and lights are on you have shore power. But the fridge and micro are off the 12 V dc. And your gas won't work because the spark is generated from DC so that's why fridge on Propane won't work. You definitely have a 12Vdc problem. If you are 100% sure you got the right fuse swapped I would thin it's the converter or the battery itself.

But don't worry, You will get replies from the guys that helped me last weekend and it will get sorted out. Good luck.

My microwave is 120 not 12. Not sure any are 12v.

If battery is in correct now, have you checked to see if charged. If the fuses are blown then the battery will not charge thus the battery would be dead quickly. As for the radio, not sure if it has not worked at all but the fuses should have protected it. Double check the 2 fuses again.

The first thing I did when I looked at my battery was realize that I was going to reverse them sometime. I wrote "white" and "black" by the terminals in black Sharpie.

Hey all, To prevent "brain lapse" ,I printed some labels and attached them at all 12V connecting points. Batts, converter, power feed,etc.----Lou----

I did the same thing this year. Not sure what trailer you have, I have a passport 3220, so some things might be in different places. The fuse for the fridge is outside, remove door on side of camper and find the fridge control board, remove the cover and there will be a glass fuse there. Make sure the power to your fridge is off or you will get a jolt when you plug the good fuse in. The fuse for the radio is on the back of head unit, remove the four screws holding it in place, slide the unit out and look at the back, it will be there. I'm pretty sure the fuse for the microwave is in the main fuse panel. Good luck.

Your converter and electrical system is protected by two reverse polarity fuses usually found on the front panel just to the left of the other fuses. If you installed your battery and connected them up "in reverse" the fuse will blow. Check those and replace if necessary.
