I need tires also. I've been surfing the web, and so far these Continental tires are the closest to what I want(heavy duty enough to bare the 1200lb tongue weight of my Cougar, and still ride smooth). They're a bit pricy, but I think you get what you pay for when buying tires. There's so many choices out there depending on what you want or need. Hope this helps in your search.

Just put a set of Michelin LTX M/S2's on my F150 7700. They are are Load range E but ride nicer than my previous AT's.

Dido on the Michelin LTX M/S (LR E)! Much improved ride than the original Bridgestones that came on my Chevy 2500.

LTs 4ply ????? I'm guessing your GMC is a 2500 and the load range E tires you are looking for are 10 ply. And I agree with the others .... the LTX2s will improve ride .... especially on wet roads. JM2¢, Hank

;LTX LOAD RANGE E very good ride! 4 ply tires NO too weak. and can't handle the weight. the michelin's should give you great milage return too.i just replaced the front two at 73k.

My gmc is a 1/2 ton 1500 Denali the TT weights about 7000 loaded the TV is about 6600 I weighted both at 13600 , so 4ply is a no no ?? And do the LTX come in 10 ply ??

What is the load rating of your stock tires??? Your rims are most likely not rated for load range E. Sorry I assumed wrong but you know what they say.

The only Michelin LT tires I can find that are 265/65R18 are either load range C (6 ply) or load range E (10 ply) There are no 4 ply LT tires...
There are some P265/65R18 "truck tires" that are rated 4 ply, but they are NOT LT tires, rather P series tires.

Like Hank suggested, before buying 10 ply tires, make sure your rims are rated to support that much air pressure and weight. Otherwise, you may wind up without being able to air the tires high enough to support your axle weight)

We just got the MICHELIN® LTX® M/S2 on the 3500 dodge and so far they are great. Did about 1,100 mile trip last month pulling the 5th wheel.

I have always got the michelin's when it was time for new tires.
We payed around $255.00 a tire out the door installed. And got a 75.00 gift card in the mail.

Ron.

I like this thread.

When I got my truck it had Hercules Terra Trac A/T tires on it. Still does. They have a metric weight rating, at least that is what I think it is.
Rating is 114T Max load per tire at 44 PSI is 2601. It would appear they are 6 ply. On the side wall it tells you what each ply is. 2 of something, 2 of another and 2 of somethings else.
So I guess that is about a C. I have not had any issues with them but the next tires will be a load range E. I towed my very light 5er with them for 2 years. 4800lbs dry 6000 loaded. with those tires and I have been very happy.

Truck probably came with load range E tires as it was a GSA truck, but it went to auction and dealer that bought put these rims and tires on it, running boards and tinted the windows. I would have rather had the steel rims and load range E tires as I am not a truck guy and this thing sits unless I am towing, going to Lowers or the Dump.

I installed a set of Michelin LTX M/S2 tires on my ram 3 weeks back and love them. They are a E rated tire but ride better then the factory 4 ply. They are more expensive, I found roughly $450 in the difference for a set of 4 but was the only tire in its class with an extended life warranty, (which does not mean a lot) but after looking at reviews these tires were lasting 70000 miles on average compared to 45000 miles of the competitor so by my math were a better deal.

Moderator's suggestion!

I think it would prevent a lot of confusion if folks would include the weight class of their trucks in their signatures. ( 1500/150, 2500/250, 3500/350, ½ton, ¾ton and so on. ) Or at least in the question they are asking. Thank you, Hank

I just got Bridgestone Revo IIs for my tow vehicle. They are LT285 70R17, Load Range E. I like the slightly wider footprint of them. They come highly recommended.
