Rear Bunk House Cabinet Organization Ideas
The rear cabinet of my Passport 2910bh has a rod for hanging clothes but we want more of a shelf or draw system. I like the plastic draw method but the rear closet has a lip that requires draw units to be raised like 6 to 10 inches for the lower draw to open. I like the wire closet organization kits but was wondering what type of fasteners to use. Whatever application will require some thinking...the walls on each side are pretty then. Maybe some liquid nail to support some wood cleats and then plywood shelves. Or actually drilling through each side and using a screws with bolts and washers. We haven’t done anything yet but have thought a lot about it.

I put wood shelves in my hanger cabinet. I got the shelving already finished from Home Depot and installed it by tacking trim to the sides of the cabinet with an air nailer. It ended up looking factory.

The wire shelves turned up side down work well with plastic clips and short screws.
Wood shelves mounted with wood strips work good too.

Hankpage - what did you mount the stips to the wall with. I hate all the empty space in the bed side closets.

Yes it is ..... I'm not so sure how hard it is to rip the whole cabinet out ... but that is what you would have to do to remove it.

I measured screws VERY carefully and used a dab of Liquid Nails for insurance.

Thats my concern...not sure exactly how thick the side walls are and what size screws to use. I know the wire shelf system has those little white clips that usually get pushed in to a predrilled hole when you are installing in a closet (drywall). I like the wire shelfs upside down...will have to see how to attach. Whatever I do I think I would like to make sure they are removable. To complicate things it would be nice to maintain a small amount of hanger space but I think that is too mush to ask for and have the shelves at same time.

We have a Passport 300BH and had the same dilemna. We cut 3/8 plywood sides and inserted them into our closets to nail and glue the shelf cleats to. Then added plywood shelves. The panels in the UltraLites are very thin and we were afraid that they would not support the added weight.

I puurchased an organizer set that hangs from the rod. It had 6 shelves but I was able to remove the last two. This added 4 shelves without having to make any modifications.
