13' 6' is legal height in most states. anything over that is illegal and requires over size permit.

Height is deceiving
I have a new 2019 29rks 5th wheel, it's less than a month old and is already in shop being repaired for roof damage. Hello? It's taller than they say, so be sure to add an extra 12" for good measure. It needs to be measured after hookup!
after adding vent covers, and after adding satellite! I would say 13' is a better guess.

I have a Sprinter that says 12'9'. However, I pull it with a F-250 FX4 OffRoad that is higher than most trucks which translates to a higher max height for my Sprinter. I also added a forward A/C unit which I don't think was figured into the original max height. So far I haven't knocked anything off and the lowest bridges I've been under was the I-55 overpass in Memphis and the HWY-431 Railroad overpass in Attalla Alabama. Both are labeled 13'6." I haven't measured it hook on but I believe I am close to 13'4"

Okay, I’ve been away for awhile,, sorry. First of all, I own and sell RVs. Many RV salesman do not actually own them so they either guess or look at the brochure. I can tell you for fact that your Cougar isn’t not over 14’ tall. In fact it’s not over the 13’6” maximum legal limit. Montana’s, Alpines, and Avalanches that are full profile units are typically around 13’ - 13’4”. The Cougar is a mid profile coach so about 12’6” is likely. Actual height will vary based on the geometry of you truck/trailer combo, but there’s no way you’re over 14’

Trailer Height
I have a Cougar 337FLS with the front living room. Height to top of front AC unit is 13'2". Make sure and measure your height. If you are going to be going to places that are off the interstates go to LowVlearances.com and get their POI software that loads into your GPS. It will give you a warning if there is anything higher then the limit that you set. I have mine set for 13'4". Better to be safe than sorry.

You better get someone to go up and help you measure it because 13 feet 6 inches is the max legal height for semi's.and if you are over that you will have major problems even on the interstate in some states.

something wrong here.
14feet 8 inches.
is illagel to tow in any state witout a over legal permit.
you would hit many a bridge, power pole/wire. trees, etc.
the sales man who said this hight is a fool, and does not know or understand the rvs he is selling.
13 feet 6 inches. is max legal for any fixed top trailer, van on US hwys. ( flat beds can do 14 feet even).
and that is under fed laws. many a state, city road has bridges lower.

There's a GPS specific to RV travel. It will guide you on roads specific to your rig.

And if you're legal height (which you very likely are) that doesn't mean that you still don't have to pay attention to your bridge height signs. Stay alert out there people!

Maybe
Maybe he meant to say 148”= 12’4” not 14’8”?

Same salesperson that'll tell you your F150 EcoBoost will tow that 16-17k 5er, "NO PROBLEM!".

Well, using that salesman's logic, if you put a 4000 pound pin weight in your F150, chances are it'll "lower the suspension" enough that a 14'8" tall trailer will actually travel at 148" (12'4")... Something to be said about not needing to let the air out of the rear tires to lower the suspension..... Just "squish" it out...

You just discovered the salesman’s dilemma. He doesn’t recognize that 148 is inches and you have to divide by 12 to get feet!

Was it hooked up to your tv when he measured it? If it wasn't connected to your tv then his measurement is meaningless!
