Over time, your slide topper may have stretched and needs tightening. There are some fairly good YouTube videos on awning installation and tightening so I would suggest giving that a try. Since the topper is under spring tension, if the tightening is not done properly, you could end up with quite a mess. If and when you tackle it, be sure to get a helper.
As a temporary measure, you can place inflated balls, pieces of foam cut to fit or any other light and easily removable objects between the roof and the topper to reduce the flapping and sagging. I use rolled up pieces of foam, slightly larger than the opening, and roll the foam in such a way as to have a space down the center so a rope can be put through. When you don't need the spacer, simply pull on the rope and it comes down. I place them into the gap with an extendable pole. Works for me.
