Water Filter Mounting Bracket

I just purchased a Beech Lane Dual Water Filter and would like to mount it near my water connection on the RV. Mounting option 1 is to get a couple of stainless screws and drive them into the fiberglass sidewall about 1/2", leaving the heads protruding lightly to hang the bracket on. I was going to silicone up the threads as well.

Option 2 is to mount the bracket slightly lower, onto the aluminum skirting panel. In this instance, I'm thinking I would need to mount a backer block behind the skirting, as it is rather flimsy.

Any suggestions or better ideas?

I would not recommend the skirt. That flimsy aluminum is easily damaged and when the filters get filled with water they will have some heft.

Can you get to the frame and use it? Our friends just have 2 mounting screws into the frame for the holding bracket; they connect the lines to the filters in the bracket then just hang it on the screws on the frame. When it's time to go just lift off the screws and disconnect the lines.

I wouldn't recommend either of the options you listed. The aluminum skirt will just pull out as soon as you put weight on it and I'm afraid the fiberglass will give you issues if you try that. I've seen lots of "holes" placed in fiberglass that developed spiderweb cracks over time.

Thanks guys. The frame does sound like a great way to go and I believe it's visible in the area I want to mount the filter. I will check it out when I get back to the trailer this weekend.

We mount ours like your Option 1 with the screws going in to the metal frame around the door for the water closet compartment. I had to elongate the openings in the filter bracket about 1/16" longer (toward the top) so that the angle bracket would sit low enough to allow the compartment door to open and close. It has been in use (on & off) as we travel for about a year with no problems.

I followed your advice and it worked out great. The frame was accessible in just the right place. Thanks for the tip!
