5th Wheel plugged into shore power while stored

I just purchased a 2019 Cougar 5th wheel and I'm looking for feedback on whether it's a good idea to keep it plugged into a 30Amp power source while being stored. With our old TT we i was able to keep it plugged in for 9 years without any issues (that i know of). Any input is appreciated.

Leaving it "plugged in" will keep the battery charged via the converter. In doing so, the water level in the battery will drop so it should be checked every 4 to 6 weeks and topped off with distilled water only.

Marshall's advice is "spot on" for trailer storage during the camping season, when you'll be using it regularly.

On the other hand, if you're in Florida and will be "storing it from April until next January when you return after the holidays" or if you're in North Dakota and will be "storing in October it until next spring", there's much more to "trailer storage" than plugging it into shore power.

I'd suppose you're asking about storage during the camping season??? If so, as Marshall suggested, just keep an eye on the battery and enjoy your trailer. If you're asking about some other "storage concept", then identify the specifics and you'll get more focused advice on what you should do to protect your trailer.

I keep mine plugged into 30amp shore power year around with no issue. As Marshall said, check the water in the batteries about once a month.

I live CA. we try to go out once month, schedule permitting. Thanks for the input. Checking the battery levels is now on my monthly check list.

Below is a link for a battery water pitcher that makes the task of watering the batteries very easy.

Good luck
