Once set temp is reached the flame will shut off. As long as the switch is in the “ON” position, the flame will reignite when the water temperature reaches the “trigger” temp.

We have a 2019 Springdale Mini 1800BH. So we had the no hot water issue on our 1st trip, hooked up to city water. I took the plywood off the bottom bunk and found access to some shut off valves. Make sure the water heater bypass is turned the right way to allow the water heater to fill with water. We had some sporadic success getting a tank full of hot water. Like five times over the three days. Took the camper back to the dealer, the service guy told me the igniter was to far away from the tube to light. He moved the igniter closer (doesn't take much) to the tube and our last trip we had water heater ignition each time the signal was sent.
