Keystone 2018 Generic Owner's Manual

There are often questions about Keystone not providing warranty coverage for the OEM tires on their trailers. This new Owner's manual has an answer, as did earlier editions. Here is the excerpt from page #19.

Tire Warranty

Keystone RV does not administer the warranty for tires. Please contact the tire manufacturer direct at:

1. Goodyear - 800–321-2136
2. TBC (Towmax, Trailer King, Sailun) - 800-238-6469
3. Tireco (Mudstar) - 800-937-9433 – www.tireco.com
4. Michelin - 800–847-8475 – www.michelinman.com
5 Tredit Tire and Wheel (Rainier, Arisun) - 800-537-2925 - www.tredittire.com
6. Americana Tire & Wheel - 574-522-9450 - http://www.americanatire.com.
7. Lionshead Specialty Tire - 574-533-6169
8. HiSpec Wheel & Tire, Inc – 874-807-8588

Why is Michelin on the list? Probably because just about all Keystone Trailers in model years 2005 & 2006 had LT235/85R16E tires on 6000# axles. Some of them were Uniroyal, a Michelin owned tire builder. Some time after the trailers with those tires were all sold there was a major recall for that Uniroyal tire. Because there were not enough Uniroyal's to go around Michelin provided some of their name brand tires to replace the Uniroyal's. Some of you may still have those trailers and replaced the Michelin tires with other Michelin tires.

Do-It-Yourselfers - including me - make sure you register your replacement tires. It's the safest way to insure you will be contacted should a recall be called on them.

I know it's been brought up somewhere before, and I forget the context, but it's scary to see these 3 brands grouped together.

Yes it is. TBC represents nearly 20 different brands. I'll be more diligent in the future when buying tires for any trailer, passenger car or truck. We all know the steller reputation the middle one has.
