CG in middle Illinois

Me and the wife are wanting to give my parents a weekend away, they have stayed in our camper when at our house and say they would love to get one some day. So, I am looking for some recommendations for nice CGs near their house in Springfield, Il. I would need it to be one that I could have a rental company come and set up the unit also, that's a long drive for me to go do it for them. So, what do yall have for a good CG and rental company I can get in contact with? Thanks

Not sure how far from Springfield is too far, but we stayed one night at one of the Corps of Engineer parks on Lake Shelbyville a couple months ago.
No clue about a rental set-up. You might call a RV dealer that rents.

We stayed at Whittington Woods CG just of I-57 ~15 miles South of I-70 last fall. Very nice, quiet, reasonable, clean and they will usually give you some fresh eggs when checking in: http://www.whittingtonwoodscampground.com/

There's a full service Good Sam campground in Chatham, IL about 6 miles South of Springfield that may be able to help you. Their official name is Double J. Campground & RV Park, they can be found on the web at: doublejcampground.com or via phone at 217/483-9998.

There is a State Park known as Sangchris State Recreation Area with about 140 electric only sites about 15 miles East of Springfield and another State Park (Jim Edgar State Recreation Area) about 35 miles West of Springfield with about 15 full hook-up sites and maybe 80 electric only sites. If you're looking for a federal or state campground your best option would be to access "Reserve America" on the web and search for locations close to Springfield, but I doubt that any State or Federal campgrounds can set up a camper. One other option may be to contact Coleman's RV a dealer in Springfield, they may be able to help you, their web address is www.colmansrv.com.

Give these people a try: Hopper RV in Jacksonville, Illinois. They are about 25miles east of Springfield and have a fairly nice setup. I know they rent trailers because I saw the info when we were there. I can't say a lot about them in that we just stopped to see if they had propane and then went on our way. They were very polite (as most folks are) and easy access. I don't think they rent Class C or A motorhomes, probably just travel trailers. (217) 243-3374

I too have heard that the Hopper RV folks are nice people. I personally haven't rented from them, but I know a guy that rented a 5th wheel from them for a local event a couple of years ago. If you do make contact with them, you may consider asking if they could set the camper up at a full service site at Jim Edgar State Recreation Area, which is about 18 miles North of Jacksonville on IL-78. I've heard that the local public campground in Jacksonville is a bit sketchy in terms of safety.
