Timbren Suspension Enhancements

I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew. Pulling a 35' Passport about 6,800 pounds with an equalizer hitch. Pulls good but thought about adding these to get the truck more level. Any experience with product and install?

Put a set on my F250. They work fine and eliminate the sag. A lot cheaper than a set of bags.

A 20 minute install and they worked great for me.

Try them without the included spacer to allow suspension movement without making contact with them when unloaded. When loaded, the Timbrens should be making contact and compressing the Timbrens at least 1/2". If you don't get the setup right you won't like them.

I installed a set on my F-250. Very easy install. The hardest part was getting the stock bump stops off.

Had a set on my F150. Worked great and easy install. I had the spacer in and they didn't contact unloaded even with a 5er hitch and traintracks. Held the truck up nice and level when loaded and felt more stable. I think you'll really like them.

I had them on my 2006 2500 RAM and when I bought my 2015 3500, I moved them over. 10-15 minute install and they work great although my 3500 doesn't engage them unless I'm fully loaded.

I use them on my 3500 towing our 15,000lb toy hauler, truck stays nice and level and rides fine loaded or empty.

I put them on my 2015 f250 and towing felt more stable and the ride was much better. I recommend them

Hmm. I'm the minority here; I put a set on our '12 Ram 1500 CCSB to pull our 7K lb 32', and we hated them! because of the soft, saggy rear, the truck sat "loaded" on the Timbrens, and the ride was as though there was no rear suspension at all. I took them out after 1 trip, replaced with Airlift 1000 and never looked back.
I'm unsure what I could have done to "set them up" differently? Using the spacer or not gives about 1/2" difference in ride height but our stock coils are so soft I'm not sure how any Ram 1500 wouldn't be riding on them even with a properly set WDH?
My $.02, I hope you find a solution which works for you.

I had a set on our 3500. They worked too well. With them installed, the tail end of the truck squatted 1/2" when the 5r was loaded. The tail end of the truck was high and the front of the camper was high. I took them out and the tail end of the truck is still high, not quit level, maybe an inch or so.

I know you said you had a 1500. Before the 5r and the 3500, I had a 1500 and a TT that had a tongue weight of 1100 lbs. I put in 50% over progressive rate springs and 5000 lb bags. Rode nice loaded and unloaded. I only wish I would have gone with the 10,000 bags.

15's are nice riding trucks. I think if you put Timbrens in you'd loose some of that nice ride while unloaded because the Timbrens will limit the travel of your suspension.

That's my humble opinion.

Timbrens

Once installed do they enhance the lift even if you are hooked up the a trailer using a Husky stabilizers and weight control? Thinking about it because when I park my TT I have to back on a hill from the road and the hitch pad drags the gravel driveway. thx

They do not help with lift at all. They limit the rear end from lowering more than it should when towing or carrying a heavy load . If you know what a bump stop is, think of them as a bigger longer bump stop. I put near 40,000 miles on a 08 f250 work truck that had them. Pulling the 8,000lb boat they worked great. I put on air bags on my last 2 trucks before they made them. I might go to them on the next truck.

We pull a fifth wheel, and use the Timbrens with excellent results. But when towing a trailer using a WD hitch, isn't the system supposed to be adjusted to eliminate the sag on the tow vehicle? Maybe you just need to tweak the WD hitch.

My set up appears to be level, my problem is when I transition from the paved road to my gravel driveway there is such a dip between the two surfaces that my TT hitch drags the gravel. I normally take my Husky TS off since I have to backup a hill and park my TT on level ground where my TV is on a incline. I think what I can do is back up on the hill and then take my Husky off where both TV and TT will still be level to each other. Since I do know that when the Husky is on there is no drag. Life is good.

I would agree with "bobbecky" your WD system should be bringing the TV back to level (or as close as possible) and it shouldn't be sitting on the axle once hooked up.

If the WD can't bring it level and you have that much sag, might be time to upgrade the TV to one with higher payload or re-adjust the load in the camper

Larry, in your case, air bags would solve that problem. If using the right air bags. You would have about 5 lbs of air when truck is not towing. When towing put in what ever it takes to have the combo level. When backing up into the driveway add more to raise the rear. What psi you need you will have to try it out and find what works.
