Oil temperature gauge install

I've decided to go with the same B&M cooler used in the referenced thread and will be installing it this weekend. I'm going to follow the guide here and won't be using any rubber hose:

Where the OP used an adapter pictured here, I'm thinking of using a brass tee and installing a temp sensor for a gauge in the cabin:





Is this a good place to do this? Which side of the cooler would be the inlet (fender side or center side) so I get the pre-cooled temp?
