Brake squeal

My brakes squeal like a banshee. This winter I'm going to inspect/repack the wheel bearings and inspect/adjust the brakes. I'm guessing the brakes just need adjustment to stop the squeal. Anything else I should look for while I'm in there? TIA...Jason

It might help to scuff up the brake shoe lining and the drum surface as well with some emery cloth or sand paper, many times the shoes will get glazed over and need to be ruffed up, JMHO.

Drums get glazed as well. A little (just a little) sanding on the surface of the drums will help too. You just want to take away the shine. Cross hatched pattern is prefered.
