Digital Door Lock

2015 Keystone Passport Ultra. Any recommendations for a digital door handle/lock. Cant seem to find one that will fit the dimensions of the stock non-digital door handle.
Thanks

I’m not a fan of the digital door locks. I have removed more than I have installed. If your current lock is FIC, then the aftermarket sets should fit. You may have to “shoehorn” it in with the bolt retracted.

Maybe I'll just stick with what I have. Sometimes the key is hard to unlock with. Thanks

Our Cougar has two entry doors and the keys were different. My goal was to have one key fit both doors. At https://www.rvlock.com/ I got new entry door locksets and locks for all the baggage doors also. Now one key fits everything, it's much more convenient.

The company also sells the keyless locksets you asked about.

Use some dry silicone on the lock. Put the key about 1/4 of the way in and spray. Then use the key and go in/out a few times then try.

After the third day I took the batteries out of the one on the Cougar and never put them back over the next 6 years.. Told the new owner that he shouldn't either.

I'm with Javi,^^^

More trouble than they're worth. Plus the batteries corroded within three weeks of installation, and made a mess. Cleaned up the mess, and never felt the need to put batteries back in.

Good Luck,

I'm surprised at the negative experiences...

I installed one in our camper and absolutely love having it installed. It's been great coming and going without dragging a key with us. I did have to tone down the beeping since it was so loud, but that has been my only negative experience so far.

WNY Bullet's positive review of these is the first I've ever seen. I was interested in installing a digital handle at one time and watched and read various reviews on them. I could not find a single positive review on them from anyone, and dropped my interest in owning one.

Reviews are a funny thing. You seldom see someone who is ultra-pleased write a review where a person who has a hard time with a product or a failure seems to write most of them. BTW: The door key being hard to turn may have the same issue with a digital lockset. Spray some silicon in the keyed lockset and insure the door and strikeplate are adjusted properly.

Our friend installed one on his Imagine - they love it.

I haven't pulled trigger. I thought about putting one on bathroom door - seems everytime I try to use it, the door is locked! Defeats purpose of having one to bath from outside

Digital Door Lock

I have had very positive experiences with the Baurer NE digital locks. Had it on my previous TT and now a new one for my FW. A total of seven seasons without any issues. I would not be without it. Wife now wants one on the bath door as well.

IMO installation is key. If the manual lock is poorly installed and the digital is as well, you will have issues. Make sure the dead bolt is free to engage and all will be ok. BTW we use lithium batteries and they last the season.

Putting a "remote control digital lock" on the bathroom door sounds "neat and convenient"....

BUT: consider when you invite the boss and his wife (or your "in-laws) over for an afternoon at the campground and you have to "hit the head", unlock the door and open it without thinking.... Only to find the boss's wife or your MIL sitting on the throne.....

There's something to be said about the "time lag" between inserting a key and opening the door...

Installed a keyless lock from Rv Lock.i did have to trim a little with my Dremel so the wires wouldn’t get pinched. I change the batteries every spring. I love it.

I installed a digital one from RVLock and have been very happy with it. Install was quick with no mod necessary. Certainly feel it was worth the money.

But if the battery goes dead....

you still need a key..

so it must always be carried.

Valid point. I'd be nice if they could have sprung for a locking handle on the INSIDE door...

It would be very easy to replace it or add a simple slide bolt for about $2. If you do that, I'd suggest mounting it high enough so a little child doesn't look themselves in.

We really like ours. Have not had it long but so far it’s been a gem and very convenient. Here’s the one that fit our lock type:
