Follow-up on slide leak
Started a new thread as this wasn't a warranty issue as was the previous thread. I had a leak on the right side of the slide on my Hideout that would get the floor and rug wet in a hard rain. I mentioned that re-caulking didn't hold. So, as suggested on the other thread, I took the trim off, installed new butyl and re-caulked. Should hold it now!
But the clincher was I discovered why that trim would keep breaking loose. There are two wheels next to each other that the right side of the slide rolls on. Both wheels had only one screw in each so the wheels turned sideways and the slide was actually sliding on the wood edge of the opening. No wonder the motor always creaked and groaned. There was no way to reach those wheels without taking the slide out, which I wasn't about to do, so I cut a hole in the platform that couch sits on and reached them. Covered up the hole with some matching upholstery on plywood that looks almost like the large access opening on the slide.
Gr-r-r. At least that is the most major problem so far with the trailer--so no big deal. Just that some goof-off at the plant got lazy.
