Battery Question
I really hope this isn't an embarrassing/dumb question but do I need to put a battery in the front if I'm plugged into shore power? I read a thread that someone was worried about possible damage to their slide motor because the dealer forgot to replace his battery. I have multiple batteries but am hoping to use them for another set-up..... again, I hope this isn't a dumb question...

The keystone manual I got just speaks of having a well maintianed battery to run 12 v items. The dealer work shop I went to after the sale says in print "some appliances still require the presencee of good charged batteries to act as a filter for what is called AC ripple" It was said that damage could be caused without the batteries hooked up. (That is not in writting, it was said). As I recall the other RVs I had did not say any thing like that. Others may be better at explaining what can or may happen. I just stated the dealer information and for now I follow it.

Every rig I've had that had a slide had a big sticker somewhere saying you MUST have a fully charged 12V battery to operate the slide. I never argued the point. As for the rest of it, I never tried to operate everything in the coach without a battery so I'm not sure what might not work or what, if any, damage you might do. In the grand scheme of things a battery is fairly inexpensive IMO.

For starters, you require a 12v battery for your breakaway switch. No battery - no breakaway - no brakes should you "separate". In addition, on our 5th, a battery is also needed for the slide to operate without having to bring the converter into the equation.
Regardless of being plugged into shore power, you'll definitely need a battery at some point so install one now and leave it there.

I have 12 6volt deep cycle batteries for my solar system that produces 110v (plug trailer into) but was hoping to keep them together.... All good, I will put 2 of them in the front of the trailer. Again, thanks... Anson.

Hey, don't know if you have Costco stores, but, they sell 6V golf cart batteries.
$89 a copy - it's all good!
