There isn’t any need to put antifreeze in the fresh tank. Probably won’t get it all out if you did, so I wouldn’t do it.

Why are you wanting to flush the toilet? If your using the trailer why not just use regular water?

Well more to it than that.
Are you in a RV park or boondocking?
How cold will it get?

Are you going to wash your hands in antifreeze?

The toilet uses "fresh water from the tap" to flush. Why not just avoid that system and pour the required amount of antifreeze (or water) around the toilet bowl after use??? That would eliminate the issues with "anti-freeze taste and odor" in the fresh water tank... It's somewhere between difficult and impossible to flush the FW tank to get rid of that "tainted water issue".....

If all you are using is the toilet, why not get a port-a-potty and then you can dump the port-a-potty. We use our camper all winter through and ours is winterized. We use the port-a-potty for night callings, and in the morning dump it in the toilet in the house.

If you have somewhere to dump your black tank, just take the bucket from the port-a-potty and dump it. Quick rinse with water and good to go.

You can also drop one of those RV black tank deodorizers in the cassette port-a-potty and go longer if you don't want to dump every dayl

I know most don’t agree with this... I put antifreeze in my tank and pumped it for a few minutes. I have a brand new fifth wheel but I don’t ever plan on drinking the water from the tank. I’ve always put antifreeze in my boats freshwater tanks and I just flush it out in the spring.
I have a case of bottled water that I use for coffee and cooking and brushing teeth. I’ve never liked the taste of water from onboard tanks. There is plenty of glue residue and thread sealant and who knows what all else in the tank leftover from construction.
On my boats in the spring I just fill the tank and let it overflow out of the fill cap, I have all the faucets running and that’s good enough for me.
I used the winterizing manifold but also wanted some in the tank just to be safe. It may be wrong but it works for my piece of mind

We just pour the antifreeze in when we flush.

Easy Solution

Just run a line from the inlet if the pump into a large jug of RV antifreeze.
Just as you would when you winterize.
You can now flush in the middle of the night without fumbling in the dark.

I put antifreeze in my fresh water tank and after a good flush out and sanitizing I’m good to go. Never had an issue getting the tank and lines flushed and cleaned, and no taste from the antifreeze. I have been told several times NOT to put it in the hot water heater, which I don't. So flush it out well and you will be fine.

Winter toilet use with antifreeze

Hi, To answer your question... yes it works. However, the way I did mine is: I added a separate 5 gallon water tank, put in a Camco bypass valve, when winter comes I just flip the lever and I draw from the rv anti-freeze tank, (bonus is that it makes it extremely east to winterize my camper) in spring I just fill the “water “ tank and flip the lever back. I’ll try to attach a video of it working.

Yes... If winter camping and freezing temps.
No ill aftereffects when tank flushed and bleached before Summer configuration.
