New post for my home 30 Amp hookup

Not a trailer modification per se, but I finally got around to using the parts I bought back in October to redo my power hookup at home. The old one was put in by my dad probably 15 years ago (I was in High School at the time). He took no care to "weatherproof" it and as the pictures will show, weather took its toll!

The old plug was exposed to the elements for those 15 years and was HIGHLY corroded and rusted. I could not even undo the screws, the heads just disintegrated. I had to drill out the middle one to open the plug housing.

Before picture shown here.

New housing should be completely weather proof and looks much better

Great job on the upgrade! It's so nice having 30amp service right at home...

You definitely got your money's worth from that old cord!!

Apparently it is a 4 conductor cord too, so potentially could be upgraded to 50A service some day, but that would require updating the 2 subpanels and main panel breaker this circuit is fed by - aka not terribly likely to happen since the main -> first sub panel is an underground line that would be a pain to upgrade if the wire is not of sufficient size.

Nicer than having the power hook up is just having the space. I have a large circular driveway with the house on one side, and this large open space on the other where I can keep the trailer. We originally made the gravel pad and power hook up to keep our 42ft Class A here when I was in high school. So PLENTY of space for the trailer.

I use my phone to take and upload pictures. If I turn my phone sideways (or the landscape orientation of the camera) when I take the picture, when I post it is oriented correctly.

A lot better then having cable unprotected. I have 30 amp all I have plug in is 15 amp extension cord to run my 3 amp trickle charge for the batteries.
