Wheel bearing/seal issue?

See pictures below. New camper. Towed it 2717 miles since it left the dealer. (About 600 miles from the dealer to the plant if factoring that.) Have not touched anything on the axles or tires. Only thing I've done is check the air pressure and lug nuts, but no issues with either of those. Break drums have no grease on them or coming out of them. It sorta looks like brake dust got wet and ran down as its not changed since I noticed at last campground before bring it home, where its been for a week. Should I just clean it up or is something actually wrong.

From the picture, it looks like brake dust. If it washes off easily, that's probably what it is. If it was a seal problem, I don't think grease would come out there.

There is a little cap in the center of the wheel hub (chrome), it pops off with a screwdriver. Behind it, there should be a rubber cap over the EZ Lube wheel hub. If it was missing, grease could leak from there.

If it washes off, I would just keep a eye on it.

It really does look like brake dust that has gotten wet and ran. It has the appearance of being a bit gritty, not greasy like you would see from grease. Can't stick my finger on it, what does it feel like?

Unless you drove through something, it could be axle grease. Mine have never looked like that. The best thing to do is climb underneath with a flashlight and you should be able to see signs if the hub is the source or not. Any brake performance issues.
Let us know how you make out.

Yeah, I got underneath, nothing on the brakes or leaking I can see. Has powdery feel to it. It's not "spun" on like I've seen when a hub seal is leaking.

We hit a pretty good down pour on the interstate before so I'm thinking the road spray "washed" any buildup loose. I have a 100 mile trip in two weeks so I'm going to clean them and see if anything else comes up. I'll put the heat gun on the hubs 1/2 as well. I did notice something similar on my last rv right after i got the hubs repacked and brakes adjusted.

I feel better, thanks for the insight .

I pulled from Michigan to Texas last week. Here's a picture of my wheel today; what you're seeing is road grime/wheel and brake dust. No problem, just wash it off and keep going.

Hoojs,

What I didn't see on your wheels was balance weights. I'd urge you to get your tire/wheel assemblies balanced. You will definitely see a remarkable difference in how the trailer rides after balancing the wheels.

Its on my list. I did that on my last one once I got a few miles to make sure everything was worked in. I took two off at a time and ran them into the local place. They don't have room to even temp. Park it.
