Just took delivery of a new Generac 2300/3000i today. No problem running one A/c unit and the fan only on a second unit.

The specs say the inverter weighs 60 pounds. Dang, at 73 years young, 60 pounds seems somewhat heavier than I remember.

Anyhow, I knew, going into the purchase of the inverter, one A/C unit will be max and leaving just enough power for the coffee maker or what ever electrical device like the on board converter to function.

Also, this unit can be paired with a like inverter for double the power, if in the future we decide to do a bit of boondocking. The inverter is very quiet

For now, my new toy will be given a prime location in the 'mancave' only to be called upon in case of a transportation problem of power failure at a RV park.

We purchased a Cummins Onan 4500i when we bought our Alpine 3220RL. It will run one AC unit at a time along with the kitchen and lights. The big one was keeping the fridge going (residential unit doesn't run off gas when electric isn't available) and at least one AC unit in the summer. We have a friend fabricating an enclosed platform that slides into rear hitch and will be locked into the hitch. It is made from stainless steel and will have two locking access doors (one to reach the controls and one to get to the tank fill). We just leave one of the access doors open to vent when in use. The platform will also be large enough to carry two gas cans. I didn't find anything enclosed in my search that would do everything we wanted and was the size we needed. Our friend has done a couple for friends that haul race cars and need generators at remote race tracks or when they can't get to a power hook up. I think when all is said and done we will be less than $1000 into the whole thing. Last time I checked without his labor we were only about $100 into materials.

The real solution if you boondock would be have 600 watts solar on the roof, a portable solar panel on the ground to chase the sun with, a Victron MPPT charge controller, 400AH of Li batteries. Use the Champion to recharge the batteries after cloudy or rainy days. Run everything except the A.C.
If you want to go a step further: 600AH Li, a Victron 3000 Multi Plus, Victron MPPT charge controller, proper installation, wire sizing, fuses etc. Would be able to even run the AC on a very limited basis. Of course it takes a healthy bank account to do that.
