We'll see how it tows. The ride is actually *better* than my Sierra 1500 so we are very happy there.
So far I'm at about 16mpg tooling around the local roads/highways and we have a longer outing set for this Saturday so we'll see how it does there. (Not towing, just getting it broken in).
Once we get it past the break in we have two trips with the Passport left this season. Itching to hook up and see how it feels with a trailer behind it.

Any plans for a bedcover? With a heck of a payload on a 3500 gas engine there should be lots of room for camping stuff!! Any plans on using a WDH just for the swaybars??

Short needing to drop the ball by about 4" (taking it in tomorrow to do that) I'll be using my Equalizer.....I won't tow without sway control, even if the truck is more than capable.
Ordered an Agricover Access rollup cover, along with their bedliner and their bed rack system (for our bikes and/or kayaks)...with what I normally keep in the bed when we go + the rack w/bike, us, dogs and random stuff in the cab, plus the tongue weight, we may eat up half the payload capacity...slightly more...

We had a toyhauler and then a conventional 5th wheel. Both had lots of storage but with the hitch in the 8' bed of the dually we had little room. Wife and I downsized to a 25RDS Cougar which is on the max our Expedition can tow. Bought the camper to live in since our house was damaged during hurricane Ida almost 2 yrs ago. Totaled our 41' GD Solitude.

Rode out storms over my 75 yrs but Ida's 150 mph winds and tornado's was the worse. Plenty damage still around with people that didn't have insurance. Hard to get workers to show up and material shortages didn't help either.

Can't imagine...about the worst thing we get up here is wildfires, and on my side of the mountains where we live, we just get the smoke from same...sat through my share of tornados growing up in the mid-west but left all of that at 18.

Fortunately you didn’t get the split tailgate. Unless you purchase a specially made b&w ball mount, it only takes one accidental push of the wrong tailgate activation button and the upper tailgate part comes crashing down on the hitch ball. My neighbor didn’t realize that he had done to his 1 week old 2022 3500 Denali dually and seeing the tailgate not fully down, he jumped on the partially deployed section 3 times at which point the donkey ears sprung from his head as he remembered the warning I had given him 2 days earlier. His wife said she was glad he did it, and not her.

Yeah - the new tailgate looks cool but it looked like something more that could break on an already tech heavy vehicle. Plus I’ve never been a fan of it. So I was very happy this one had a normal tailgate.

We have the "MultiPro" tailgate. There is a sticker inside the tailgate that gives instructions to disable the center section from opening. I disable it whenever loading for a trip. Otherwise, I love being able to drop the middle and step closer to the bed and having the added step for climbing into the higher ground clearance of an HD truck.

Yeah, I know a few people that love it...I just know myself well enough to know that I would forget to disable it or do something odd that would break it...

Enjoy the new truck. That 6.6L gasser won't even know the trailer is back there. We also upgraded from a 1500 to the HD (2500) and really happy with the decision to upgrade.

That was the hope. We started looking at the 2500's but the cost difference to step into the 3500 was minimal enough where it was a no brainer. Loved my Sierra - and it did admirably towing the Passport for the places we took it - but it was time.

First trip out with new truck…a much better towing experience than with the half ton. Now I’m back to not knowing the trailer is even back there. Going over the pass to get to our destination was a breeze.

Oh definitely - we took the "easy" pass heading over to eastern WA going over just so I could get a feel for how it ...the truck never blinked at it. On the way home we took a different pass with a long slow incline with a slightly higher grade before you hit the top. Was like the camper wasn't even there....
