Ha! Good point! I’d want someone like you in my lifeboat...sometimes when you hear people whine and complain all the time you have to think ..would they be the first person tossed out of the lifeboat?..nice to have positive people trying to work on solutions.

I've had to MacGyver things a few time in my life to get out of difficulty. Usually in very remote areas in the Allegany Mountains or on a boat out in the Chesapeake. My motto was Bitchin ain't fixen so why waste the time, just get it done and move on.

My mantra has always been “nothin to it but to do it”.
Usually muttering that phrase in a barely audible voice getting ready for some unpleasant task that “ ain’t gonna fix itself”

Cicadas

I heard that if you rub a damp fabric softener sheet like bounce across your grill and front, it makes it easier to clean off the bugs. I learned this from someone in Florida dealing with love bugs and it helps.

Do like I do and put the Blue Beacon truck wash app on your phone. They have great prices and you'll be out of there in under 20 minutes. Might be a wait getting in but they do an excellent job. Less than $50 for travel trailers and fifth wheels. I don't know how much for pickups though, can't be too much.

Getting back to the OP's original reason for his post, I would like to suggest a product called Bugs B Gone. Made by the folks at Seafoam, if you follow the directions, it really does work. I washed my truck yesterday. The grill on my Ram was covered with dead bugs. I parked it in the shade for a bit, made sure the bright work was cool to the touch, sprayed on the Bugs B Gone, let it sit for about a minute, and went to work with my brush hero and they all came off with no trouble. Highly recommend this product. https://seafoamworks.com/product/bug...e-car-cleaner/

Common to have people spray Pam or the like on the front chrome in Florida during the love-bug season. I haven't tried it but my cross-street neighbor swears by it.

We drove through them couple weeks ago on our way home from Memphis in northern VA on 81. Took several hours to clean the nose of the camper and tv when we got home. Just kept them wet with the hose for 15 minutes or so, then used some of that dollar store stuff, simply fabulous? On a microfiber cloth and they came off pretty easily. I’m sure my was did also, so have to re do that.

Great news I’ll be visiting 4 of the 15 states that could be infected with trillions of blood X cicadas 2021 . I was towing thru Minnesota when we came up on a swarm of honey bees that plaster the trucked and camper . The people that swarmed the hive didn’t look very happy . I thought what would that feel like on the Roadie?

You couldstring a net across truck and camper and catch them. The media has been eating them in as many ways as Bubba Gump shrips were offered up. But for me, no thanks, I'll keep washing them off.
