Gas camp grills - what do you have?

In the market for a camp grill. I know Blackstone is very popular, but what other grills do folks recommend for camping?

Thanks

We not very fancy we use this and the BBQ that came with the trailer. We used the black one for years then switched to the green one.

Oh boy! That's sort of like asking favorite truck brand, gas vs diesel etc.

I think it depends on what kind of cooking you like to do. I like to cook all kinds of things so one kind of grill doesn't work for me. I carry a Char Broil tru infrared gas grill (have tried Coleman, Weber [1200/2200], Nexgrill?, and others), a 22" Blackstone flattop griddle and a Green Mountain Grill Davy Crockett smoker.

We stay out for extended periods so I want to have variety and in some places getting a decent smoked anything is impossible. I really like all of the units above but that is a LOT of stuff to carry just to cook. If I was to have to carry only one I guess it would probably be the gas grill.

I can pretty much duplicate the Blackstone with a skillet or griddle on the induction cooker or gas grill. The smoked meats I would just do without. I've tried multiple charcoal grills but for me they're just not worth the mess to use and carry. If you don't have, or haven't used, and induction cooker I would encourage you to try one. I've got 2 in the RV and 2 at home (until it's time to replace the existing range with an induction range) and we love them all. I'm sure you will get lots of input for your consideration.

Griddle, Blackstone 17" and love it

Grill, a prototype of one I'm currently designing for a customer. I've designed their larger free standing and built in grills and fireplaces for years. Now I'm working on a portable for tailgating and RV use. Just a hint.. One 15,000 BTU Infrared burner cooks at 1600 degrees.

I don't have this particular grill yet, but I have a friend that's used the same one for over 10 years and its been excellent and easy to get replacement parts.

While my opinion is you already identified the best one for camping in fact the best one for home also. Blackstone I have the 36 inch pro at home. When we purchased our 5th wheel last year that was the first thing we bought was the 17 inch and replaced the grill that came with the camper. Only regrade I have is I should of purchased the 22 inch but at the time I didn’t thing it would fit. Later found out it would of fit just perfect.

I love the Blackstone use it all the time when camping haven’t used the stove inside yet. Oh sorry used it once cause of the rain. Reason I like the griddle vice a regular grill. The juices don’t drain into the flame. Can cook veggies without them falling through the grates. Cooking breakfast is easy no need for pots or pans. Can cook everything at one time has plenty of room. Cooking hibachi which we live is easy. For us it works out great some say they don’t like the griddle for cooking steaks I haven’t found a difference yet. Also it’s an easy clean up.

I use the Nexgrill 2 burner. Cheap from Costco, stores nicely, grills fairly evenly. I don't regret trashing the Aussie grill that came with TT, I do regret cooking on it.

I'm also getting a flat griddle. Maybe a 22" though. i think they make one of those. i have a 36" at home. The only thing that doesn't taste as good on a griddle are steaks in my opinion. Somehow, burgers are a lot better though. Especially with some jalapenos and cheese mixed into the ground beef. Is it lunch time yet?

I use my old green Colman stove and just last year my wife bought me a 22" Blackstone. Use the BS mainly to cook the bacon, eggs. Pancakes and Hash Browns!!!

I use this for now....it’s for my boat but I’ve been taking it with me for camping.
The black stone grills have caught my attention though

Tom give that Blackstone a workout! You can do burgers of all kinds, hot dogs, sausages plus I like to do stir fry, shrimp on skewers and various kinds of kbobs. Of course breakfast is my #1 favorite. Heck, we were at a small country store in rural FL that makes their own sausages and cheeses for sale plus a lunch menu using those items. They had a couple of larger Blackstones (probably 28") that they had all these various sausages on cooking for lunch and just rolled them back and forth on it using a long spatula. Best smoked sausage I've found in FL so far.

Javi does that burner get low enough to keep it from flaring or otherwise burning food? I'm thinking that the infrared design will hopefully eliminate or greatly reduce it. Seems the grills that get hot enough to do a good sear on a steak also flare and burn because they won't get low enough to do much else.

Related question.... do you all just run off of the rv propane or do you have a small propane bottle just for the grill?

Electric griddle (Presto). Easy clean up.

And a Coleman flat griddle (although we don't have this one any more, we have a Coleman 2 burner stove now). If we want stuff cooked over a fire, we do it over the fire.

Hungry now?

Yes the owner there is a great guy...years ago I went and he had Manhattan clam chowder..I love it. It reminds me of conch chowder from the keys ..anyway I asked the waitress to tell him how delicious it was and it was hard to find in the area. The next week when I went there he had a quart of it brought out to me in a take out container and said he appreciated the compliment...great guy
