Somewhere around Boone NC

We are looking to go towards the mountains in Late November but seems a lot of campgrounds are closed due to winter. Any suggestions near Boone NC? Was hoping to stay near there due to finding a Christmas tree on this trip and most of the farms seem to be in this area! Thanks for any suggestions!

Grandfather Campground is open all year, it's the only one I know about.

KOAs - perhaps not exactly what you're looking for. We will be in NC/Tenn for the holiday week at one.

They close Oct 31, or at least the one in Boone does!

We travel to Boone NC quite often, in fact the High Country is our favorite place in the country. We have stayed at Flintlock Campground right in Boone and it is very nice. We like Linville Falls Campground RV Park & Cabins which is a small campground right off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Check out R&D Campground in Mountain City TN (30 min from Boone). It is a fabulous campground with atv/utv access to Doe Mtn, close to Watauga Lake, 45 Min to Bristol TN and about an hour to the Creeper Trail in Damascus VA.
We have our camper there year round and love the owners Dennis and Rita (mention Robin and Kevin sent you). We see bear, deer, fox etc. Open year round (rare for this area). If you do stay we are number 9, stop by and say hi.http://www.randdcampground.com/
