Disagree that a surge protector is a good idea. Get an EMS. I also disagree with "leave your gray tank dump valves open" as you will get sewer gnats moving into your camper. I know this for a fact.

If you want/need to leave the grey valve open drop a sag in your hose to create a p trap, no more gnats. Did this at every stop, nothing ever enter through the hose.

^^^^This would be right. I do believe I recall a day back in '56 when the leaves only fluttered a little that day..... It was a subject of great conversation.

You should think about putting a Micro-air unit on that A/C if you're looking to run it on a generator.

https://www.microair.net/products/ea...nt=30176048267

Use discount code FATE for $25 discount. I installed one on my Passport and I also use a EU3000i Honda.

If you have a residential refrigerator you can run it when traveling using your inverter. No danger of gas explosion and no longer any need to turn off the refrigerator at fuel stops, and running that refrigerator when traveling is no longer an issue. It is no longer an item for debate.

If you pair two of the new Cummings Onan P4500 generators together, you can run both air conditioners, and the microwave, and the electric water heater, and the electric refrigerator, and the television all at the same time.

And one more. If you need to sanatize your fresh water tank and don't have any way to get the bleach mix into your tank, pump it in using your winterizing system.

OK, generators sitting away from your camper so even the quiet ones are not annoying but what happens when it begins to rain? I suspect rain and generators don't play well. I would never feel comfy going to bed with those things running and hear a thunder clap or worse, gentle rain drops on the roof of my camper.

Here's another one I thought of over night:

Install a Bidet on your toilet and you'll never have to be concerned about toilet paper shortages during pandemics ever again. (Plus, when you are finished, you feel refreshed and invigorated, especially when that water is cold! uuuh!... but so nice and refreshing!)

Edit:
OK, this thread really has me thinking now ... Everything you need to know about RV's. Here's yet another one:

If you fly the USA flag, know the acceptable rules for flying the flag and practice them.

I use: https://www.gentent.com/

Works well. I’ve tried making my own covers and such. This is very portable for camper use as well as home use. Breaks down small and stores away nicely. In Florida with all the rain we get and tropical systems that come through, I went with the GenTent.

$159 to keep a generator dry ?????? You can do the same thing with a 10x10 "instant up canopy" that's $59, just lower the legs to there's only 2' to allow for ventilation.... A definite PLUS: Along with saving $100, you can stay dry while refueling the generator in the rain, something you can't do with the GenTent.....

An instant up canopy may work in most normal rains. When we have tropical systems that come in with heavy rains and winds an instant up 10 foot canopy will not hold up to those conditions, it becomes a dangerous sail. The GenTent will and does. Tried both, the BTDT applies here.

Let me further clarify this because I know what’s going through some minds right now... When at home in the heavy winds and rain the GenTent works and is safe to use, therefore it comes with us when camping or traveling and power is lost to the park or campsite for extended periods of time.

Here is my addition:
Do not place your single (or double) generators closer to your neighbor’s site than your site AND do not run them all day!

I carry my generator in the back of my pickup.
I have a canopy and just run the generator with the tailgate closed and the rear canopy flap propped open.

So, What do you think of the new Onans? Where do you store them while traveling and how do you pick them up?
