Towing vehicle

I have a 2015 Ford Expedition 6cyl Ecoboost wth HD towing package... I am pulling a BULLET 248 RKS. with load leveler and anti sway hitch... 5000# dry. 6500# GVW... Do I need airbags?

Dry weight is irrelevant. GVW will work. What is your tongue weight? 15% is approximately 975 pounds. Is your receiver rated that high? Are you using a weight distributing hitch? What is the payload rating on your door post? These are the questions that will give you a better idea of where you are.

Air bags will not change your tow ratings in any way. If you need to level your tow vehicle, then they will help. Adjust your WDH first.

Hope this helps getting you started.

I'd bet you're within the specs of payload and GVWR of the truck. A CAT scale will tell you for sure. As Chip mentioned, find those numbers and report back. There are many variables that go into determining if payload will be adequate. Number of passengers in the TV, how much is packed into the trailer, etc. If the objective is a couples weekend get-away coach, most likely the numbers will work. If the large family of 7 will be camping for for a week at destinations across the country, expect to be in for a rude awakening.

A good WDH is paramount for a safe tow. Make sure its setup properly. And I'll reaffirm what Chip said, airbags do nothing but level the load.

Didn't say what axle ratio you have, but I think you also need the 3.73 gears to pull over 6000 pounds.

[EDIT] And at a little over 29 feet on the trailer, the Expedition's wheelbase might be an issue depending on if it's a standard or EL.

Unfortunately most of those large SUVs while looking big, massive & powerful were designed to move people & their stuff & were never designed to tow a trailer of any kind especially one with the aerodynamics of a gigantic heavy brick.

Well Ford says they can tow a horse and his brother and a person in every seat.
I think it is a fun commercial to watch, but misleading as most when they show or talk about towing.
