Slides

I have a 2009 300KBS travel trailer with two slides. The problem I am having is that my slides work great when I extend them out, but I have to often click the switch multible times to get them back in. I've even had to jump the switch a couple of times. I've cleaned to connections at the motor as well. Has anybody had a similar problem? If so, what did you do to fix it?

I have a couple of questions for you.
1. Do you have shore power or your truck (engine idling) hooked up to the camper when you try to retract the slides?
2. How old is the battery on your camper, is it the original one?

The reason I ask is because in the O and M guide it states that you need to supplement the battery power when extending and or retracting the slides. The amperage drawn by the motors may be greater than what the battery can supply by its self.
Also an older battery will not provide the amperage required to operate the motor correctly by its self.

You may already do this but just asking to understand better.

I always have shore power hooked up to the camper when extending and retracting the slides.

I always have the camper still plugged in to 30 amp service when this happens.

Gary,
If jumping the switch, allowed the motor to retract the slide smoothly, I think you have found the problem. Replace the switch.
