Passport 195RB fully open the door.
I don't really like that the door on my TT opens to 90 degrees.
Why is this?
Has anyone removed the strut to open the door fully against the side and if so how to hold it open.

Re: Passport 195RB fully open the door.
I did not think I would like it at first but it has been fine. After 4 years I kind of like it now. My doors would not be able to open all the way because of the awning. Any RV store should have the piece that will allow you to connect the door to the trailer when it is opened all the way.

You can take the hydraulic piston off the door. Beware if there's nothing to keep the door from swinging open very quickly it will!

Re: Passport 195RB fully open the door.
My old trailer had the door that would open all the way, but that you could clip back with the little plastic doohickey (until it snaps off, and it will).
I would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS want to go back to that system again. I love the gas strut door on my new trailer even if it only opens 90 degrees.

Re: Passport 195RB fully open the door.
I wonder if a longer gas strut could be installed, to let the door open further?
I don't mind mine at all the way it currently works.

Re: Passport 195RB fully open the door.
As long as it compresses enough and isn't so strong that it causes the bottom of the door to bend out you probably could change it.

Instead if a clip I used a magnet like I replaced on my baggage compartment doors. Works great.

The magnet is a good idea.

Re: Passport 195RB fully open the door.
The compartment magnets are good but not that strong. There are magnets made for the entry door that are a lot stronger to hold the door in a good breeze. I will take a pic on Monday when I go to work and post it. If I can find out where to get them I will post that also. FWIW the door hold openers come in Metal too.

Yep, I`m like you with the door opening. On our old Dutchman I could swing it all the way open and latch it open. When we bought our new one, it opens to 90 degrees, it bothered me for a bit, but over time it grew on me and I don`t even notice it.

Re: Passport 195RB fully open the door.
Howdy All;
My one concern about having the struts and the limiting of the door opening
being restricted is a heavy gust of wind ripping the door free from the strut
then necessitating a replacement. Could be costly, eh?

It's not a deal breaker or anything and maybe over time it'll grow on me too.
