Maybe a potato launcher mounted on a drone and have dog fights over the campground.

Drones - That's just one of many annoyances

Really don't have a problem with it, as long as someone isn't being a nuisance, and by that I mean flying over my RV and my site all the time. Once, twice, fine, 40-50 times, heck no.

Some people seem to think they need their stereo loud enough so they can hear it, even if they're out hiking the in woods 1/4 mile away. Then they yell and scream at each other, where their at the site as the music is so loud. And that isn't any worse than some poor dog tied up outside all night long, barking at every squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, opossum, or even person walking by at night. Really don't have a problem with the dog - just the owner.

We personally don't like some of the RV parks, since all they are are RV parking lots, with the bare minimum space between each rig. Our preference are some of the state ran parks, as they aren't into the profit motive and seeing how many RV's they can squeeze into a 5 acre plot of land, but still people need to be considerate.

Man, I didn't know they made "model" planes that big. I'd like to see one fly. I doubt that is is considered a "drone'.

It's definitely not a typical version of what I've seen around here. There are some youtube videos of fairly large R/C planes, but nothing that big

Those LARGE RC planes sure are a special breed and only the 1% can play with them. They even have mini jet engines!!!!

I was wondering how they got off the ground. Beats the heck out of a battery I would think!

Most of the ones that size are fuel powered. I have a buddy that has a huge scale C-130, complete with 4 fuel powered prop engines on it. Not quite as large as the one in the picture, but it has an 8' wing span. Believe it is 1:16

If someone wants to take a photo of me from a drone, go for it. It's doubtful it would be interesting. I take my camera when camping, and using my 300 mm zoom lens, I could photograph other campers from several hundred feet without their knowledge. I don't because most people aren't that interesting. Girls floating down the river in bikinis ARE interesting, but I don't want to be THAT guy!

THOSE MINI JETS Run on jet A they cost about 3 grand each that is some serious cash in these monsters! by the time you buy the engines radio servos and the building material. you bought a camper! And you need to remember they are all born under the kiss of death if that crashes there is nothing left to recover as the jet fuel burns real quick. If any one is interested. in Lakeland Florida in April is one of the larges r/c jet meets. some real great planes and pilots

An expensive video game with consequences. There is a skill to it, though. I flew the real thing, and RC flying just isn't the same. I just spectate.

Desert185 Agreeded RC is not the same, but if the RC version is built to the specs of the real plane its modeled after it does have the same flying characteristics, good and bad.

There is a video on this page showing a larger scale take off. The small scale trainer that I fly can land, taxi, and take off if I have a hard surface to do it on.

Yeah, not the same. The 747 I flew had a max takeoff weight of 833,000# and a max landing weight of 630,000#. How do RC's simulate that performance weight change with one or two engines out?

Got that right my friend.....

I read that to fly these Large scale RC flyers that you'll need $50-75k to start. Very expensive hobby with the potential of destroying it at anytime

Sorry guys but this thread seems to have "flown off course" and we are now into a discussion about the costs and flying characteristics of RC drones or planes.

Can we make an in-flight correction and get back on track?

Thanks

Yep, let's get back on track. It's been awhile since a subject brought this much interest. To drone or not to drone.....
