Our 2008 F-350 SRW with the 6.4 and, IIRC, a 3.73 rear end pulls our 14.5K 5er comfortably. We can cruise at 65 on most Interstates.

The steep grades in the Colorado Rockies, like up to Estes Park, slowed us down, but never to the point where I was nervous.

To expand on that, I think that the rear end ratio is the most important factor for 'how hard does it pull'. The 6.4, like the big diesels from any of the pickup manufacturers, can handle quite a bit more than 14K, provided that the rest of the power train is configured for it.
