Total Loss
A few words of advice.
"Don't haul when it's snowing"
Last Sunday on our way to Florida for 2 months we flipped our new trailer going 40 MPH in a snow squall on I-75. Didn't make it 50 miles from home and swoosh!!
Thank God no serious injuries- just banged up a bit. Adjuster just called and said the trailer will be scrapped. My Ram truck will need an evaluation at the dealer.
Been trailering all over the U.S. and Eastern half of Canada and never had a problem. Guess it was my time.
So beware and drive careful my friends...

Wow!, It seems to be one of those years!
I jack knifed on Jan 2 in Indiana on I-90 at 40 MPH. A little damage to both the TV and the TT.
Glad to hear you all or OK. Trucks and trailers and all the stuff we carry in them can be replaced (been there, done that, 10 years ago). People can't be.
I also am thinking of not doing the December to spring towing.
Mike

Bill,
Sorry to hear about your trailer. I suppose you're back home rather than in Florida? Good luck with the inspection on your truck and with the replacement RV. There's predicted ice/snow/rain and heavy winds in this pending "polar vortex #4"... It's supposed to be worse down around you than it is even up in the UP.
Stay safe !!!!!

Sorry to hear what happened to you guys but like the others glad your all OK. We picked up our brand new Cougar in Michigan early Nov. then went to Ontario Canada. We left there Dec. 1 and sure didn't care for the weather. In Wyoming on I80 we slid a little using both lanes to correct. Luckily there was no one beside us. A little further up there was a commercial trailer huller off on the side with a new trailer he was delivering on it's side. The truck was still upright. I was never so happy to get back to California. No more trips east in the winter time. We won't even talk about that damn salt everywhere!

Glad to know there was no injuries, any 12-16 (traffic crash) that you do not require a visit to the local ER room is good.

Glad your ok, I'll take your advise... Not even going to think about towing in the snow. DW just slipped on the ice here yesterday and twisted her knee, so she's out for a week. Hate the stuff, Snow is still a "4 letter" word to me!

We still don't have the pole barn door unfrozen, and after Bill's "adventure" I'm even more concerned with driving through the middle states to find some warm weather. We have delayed heading south for a few weeks now, it looks like with all the continued bad conditions, it will be a few more weeks before things clear up enough to start the trip.
Any updates on your truck yet, Bill?
Here's hoping that anyone trying to tow in these conditions has a safe journey.

billb800...glad you're "OK"...question:
Is there anything you'd have done "differently" (aside from not even driving in it to start with) as far as your towing set-up or brake controller adjustment or something else that might have made a difference in avoiding or mitigating the event? I sincerely mean to ask this to learn from your misfortune. Thanks.
Regards, BGood

I saw you posted this on the Jayco forum as well. That was a good idea. I am Very glad you and you family are OK. This is something everyone who tows should read and be aware of. Towing a trailer is serious and should be done as so. Here is wishing you and your family well. Hope your truck is ok , sorry about the trailer. Now you can get a Jayco again. I do like Keystone aswell . Best of luck to you.

Insurance Treatment?
Glad all are OK!
If you trailer was totaled, what insurance did you have?
Are you satisfied with how your insurance treated you and your situation?
