Confirmation on saftey chains

I wanted to check and see if safety chains are needed on 5er's. I don't ever recall seeing any on other units or never seen it talked about. All TT have to have safety cables or chains why don't 5er's?

Not required for a 5th Wheel hitch, many states require for Gooseneck though.

Chains are not required for king pin hitches. Or that I have seen.
Also if you have chains on the 5th wheel it might join you in the cab if it comes loose

I think if they get loose the breakaway switch will stop the trailer.
Or lest I hope so.

As stated above Gooseneck hitches required the chains but the fifth wheel king pin does not. The break a way brake cable will set the wheel brakes on the trailer if the hitch and trailer separate. But boy will there be damage to the bed and rear frame of the truck along with damage to the 5er.

The good news (?) is if the hitch is going to separate, it will be before you leave the campground.
