We are currently staying in South Fork Campground. It is about 3 miles east of town on hwy 160, north side. It is an older park but has lots of shade and decent sized spaces. Great managers.

I've stayed at Sportsman's three different times. I like the atmosphere and location to outdoor activities. It's not great if you want to do things in Pagosa. It takes a while to get down the road. I stayed at Pagosa Riverside one time. It was close to town. I don't think I would stay there for an extended period.

I've never stayed at Sportsmans. We used to go there for a shower while hunting. We tent camped and used a truck camper at the end of Forest Road 987 above Williams Creek Reservoir. I will scout around while we're up there.
If I'm feeling flush next fall I might buy an elk license.

I just got back from that area. I stayed in Alamosa but wish I would’ve stayed in South Fork. Temperature was lower and a lot more greenery. My plan next year is go straight to South Fork.

Monument RV sites are very unlevel and difficult to back into.

The Hub was in the curve of 160 in "downtown" Pagosa. The owners were Texans.
Was it Elk Horn Cafe? We stayed in Chama Thursday night. We ate at Elk Horn Cafe, but it was takeout for now. This was the third time and it's always good.

Sorry, late to the party on this one. We hunt in Pagosa Springs and we have good friends that live there. Sportsmans is a nice campground that is back in the woods. We usually end up stopping there for something to drink while chasing furry critters. We almost always set up the trailer at what was the Blanco River RV Park. But, they got older and sold it to the neighboring RV park, the Pagosa Springs RV Park. http://www.pagosaspringsrvpark.com/ Very nice place, surrounded by mountains and easy access to some great off road and hunting spots. It is about 10 miles south of Pagosa Springs, but worth the drive to us.
