firestone ride rite
I want to install these on my truck, want to know if anybody has put them
on and how hard to install and what cost?
what I read on line is 2 hours and cost $450 to $500 that is with
the compressor kit.
Making a 350 mile trip to Oregon in 3 weeks would like to get them on
before that trip.
Just got back from a 20 mile trip on a very rough road though i was on
a bucking bronco what a ride I hope the firestone ride rites fix the
bucking.

Larry cost sounds right from what I've checked out and read. I don't think it would be too hard to install, been thinking of installing as well. SDtrucksprings .com had the bags for $253.00 not including the compressor. I will be following the post , good luck, Happy Camping, Sam

Larry, I installed them on my Dodge a few years ago. The install instructions are very good and easy to follow. I did have to grind a little off the mounting bracket to make it fit. It is nothing critical just that the space between your springs U-bolts may be slightly closer than some. Don't fight to get it in just file or grind a little to make it slip right in ... it is normal. It does help the loaded ride considerably. I just installed the bags without the compressor and adjust them with a compressor in the storage area of my 5r. They will not eliminate all your bouncing but they are worthwhile. JM2¢, Hank

Each application will be different. In my case I use 5 - 10 psi empty (Firestone recommends not going below 5 psi) and after hitching I add air until the truck returns to it's unloaded height. This is where my trailer is set to be level and the truck is comfortable to drive. The nice thing is you can experiment with pressure until you find what works for you. Air springs are not a miracle cure-all for mismatched rigs but they can improve the ride of those that are well matched. JMHO, Hank

Firestone Air bags.
After my experiences with Air-Rites from Firestone, I will never buy another Firestone product. The original set installed by the camper dealer, leaked air from day one. I took it to a truck specialist where they checked all the hoses and fittings and determined that the air bags themselves were leaking around the crimps. After contacting Firestone, they sent me a replacement set, which did the same thing. I contacted Firestone again and a representative apologized profusely for my problem and told me he would send me another set and include the on-board air compressor for my trouble. After waiting a month, having never received anything, I called. They never returned my calls nor answered my emails. After a few months I just gave up and purchased a set of replacements from Hellwig. Problem solved. My list of manufacturers who don't stand behind their products grows longer.

I installed a set of the Air Lift air bags system. Took the camper out of storage this weekend. With 50 psi in the air system camper was level and pulled nice and smooth. I want to play around with the pressure and see what happens but I am very happy the way things turned out.

We have had the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags with onboard compressor for about 4 years in our truck. No problems ever.
Hubby did it in a couple of hours at the house. There is a switch inside the truck with the gauge so we pump up or down as needed.
