Question Propane Bottle Storage

What is the recommended way to store propane bottles when trailer is in storage over the winter? Should they be removed or remain with trailer?

Propane Bottle Storage

If your sure they won't disappear you can leave them with the trailer. Since it's not legal to lock the compartment they are in you may want to take them home. If you do, cover the quick connections. Some people use sandwich bags held on with zip ties. Be sure the valves are closed.

I've never even thought about removing them. I just turn off the valves and that's it.

the only reason to remove them is so someone else doesn't do it for you. i wrap my hose ends in a plastic bag and tape it up so no critters make the end of the hose their home!:

You can lock the bottles, but not the compartment door. Emergency crews have to be able to close the valves in an accident.

You can't fault the guy. There's only one good month up there. He'll be putting it away next month

Chain the bottles to the frame and turn off the valves - that's it for me.

Birchy, man that was harsh.....no need to kick a family when they're down. Let 'em enjoy their six weeks of summer.

BirchyBoy -
Not true. There are actually two good months "up there" - July and August.

Actually I was asking the question about propane bottle storage for a friend. My camping buddy passed away recently and his DW wishes to carry on camping. she asked me if the bottles had to be removed when she puts the trailer into winter storage. Her husband had done so but she didn't think it was necessary. That is why I posted the question. (and her trailer is a Jayco, not Keystone).
Also, it's not true about one month of good weather; we actually have two.

I have a question about 5 gallon bottles. I have one of those outdoor heaters with 2 inferred elements and it goes on a 5 gallon bottle. Has anyone devised a way to put them in storage area in the front?
No I wont use it inside the trailer. It's only for outdoors. I also have a stick for the lantern that goes on the bottle so I can hook up the camp stove up to. so I would love to have something to bring the extra bottles

I'm not sure how much room you have on your tongue in front of the existing propane tanks, but you possibly could mount a single tank holder (similar to the ones on pop-up campers) behind the jack and in front of the current tanks. Then you'd have a place to store/carry your 20 pound bottle without putting it inside your RV.

Here's a picture of one such carrier:
