new Maxxis 8008 on the way

I have a 2011 cougar 325 srx , that after about 15,000+ trouble free miles is getting a set of new Maxxis 8008 tires. Living in NJ I could not find and local dealers, but had to order them from discount tires.

Going to add metal valve stems for future tire pressure monitor.

I would like to say cheap insurance- but new tires are not so cheap. But priceless for peace of mind.

If your OE tires were TowMax you gave up 100# of load capacity with each Maxxis tire.

However, you have not violated any regulations with your selection. The ST235/80R16E is manufactured with three distinct load capacities, 3420#, 3500# and 3520#. Without any clarification in the trailer's owner's manual they all default to 3420#.

I would gladly give up the 100# of BlowMax tires and the extra cash too for the peace of mind of Maxxis tires!

actually a little over 100 lbs. But you do not hear many stories of tire failure with the maxxis.

It dose concern me but other than going to a LT tire , I do not think there is a better choice.

I have a 2014 Cougar 325SRX. When the tires wear out I am going to replace them with Michelin LT Load Range E tires. I had a 2002 Forest River Wildcat with 15 inch Carlisle tires and had one blow out and one sidewall bubble.

I replaced the rims with 16 inch rims and Michelin LT tires and never had any more problems. I put over 50k miles on those tires and they were on the camper when I traded it in 2011.

In my experience LT tires work fine on a camper.

The Maxxis is a very good choice... When I installed new tires last year Maxxis and Goodyear made the short list, I went with Goodyear G614 RST's
